The rooms, common areas, and kitchen at this hostel are all amazing—I stayed in both a private and shared room and all were clean and comfortable. But it’s the super helpful and friendly staff that make this place stand out. They answered all my questions about hikes, bus schedules, exchanging money, etc. and gave great local tips.

This hostel is the best one I have been in my trip!
It is located in the center of Bariloche, close to everything. The view from the balcony is breathtaking 😍
The vibe is excellent, and there is a beautiful common area to sit down and chill. It is always clean, and the kitchen offers you all you need to cook. The best part, without a doubt, is the team! They were so lovely and helpful. They knew all the guests' names, baked amazing bread for every breakfast, and went above and beyond for us.

The best hostel in Argentina!

This is a solid place to stay in Bariloche. The beds are comfy, the kitchen is exceptionally well equipped, the staff is helpful, and the location is amazing. Showers are hot, and basically everything is well cleaned. There is nothing remarkable about this hostel, but absolutely nothing wrong with it.

Comfortable Hostel in Great Location

This was the second time we stayed at Penthouse 1004. This time we opted for a private double room.

We loved it just as much as the first time.

The staff are so friendly and give a real personal touch to the place - each one knowing all of the guests and making a real effort to make them feel at home.

The common areas are very spacious and kitchen very well equipped for cooking and plenty of well looked after bathrooms with great showers!

The bedroom was also specious with a very comfortable bed.

The best thing about the place itself is still the balcony with the unparalleled views over the lake and the Andes mountains.

We would stay here every time we return to Bariloche!!

Amazing hostel - one of the best we know!

I shared a private room with a friend.  We shared a bathroom with others, but there were several bathrooms available.  The room's view was outstanding-similar to the views from the kitchen and common area.  The kitchen and common area were possible the best I've seen in a hostel.  

I had to catch a bus very early on the morning I checked out.  The staff called a taxi for me and the lady who prepares breakfast kindly prepared it early, so I could have it before I left.  It was a very pleasant stay in a beautiful area.

Incredible panoramic view from the 10th floor balcony, and most rooms have a view of Bariloche and its lake (including one of the bathrooms). Decent, standard breakfast. Kitchen is huge and fully equipped for multiple groups to cook at once. Common room is great with multiple options. Dorm beds have individual lockers, power points and shelves. Wifi was strong - hard to fault. 

Highly recommend - Location and view hard to beat

It would be difficult to make a criticism of this hostel. The view from the balcony is unbeatable. The kitchen space is vast with plenty of utensils and cooking equipment. The breakfast is delicious and we particularly enjoyed the home made bread and jam in the morning, there are plenty of social areas in this hostel and very helpful and knowledgeable staff, I can’t recommend this hostel enough!!

Perfect stay in Bariloche!

We stayed at Penthouse 1004 for 5 days over Christmas 2018. 

First of all the views - hands down the best you will get in Bariloche - overlooking the lake with the mountains in the background.  Perfect all day whether to have your morning coffee with, or a beer watching the sun go down at night.

The staff are super friendly and made us feel really at home - especially nice as it was over Christmas (they arranged a party for us all).

There was a great mix of fellow guests from all over the world - because of how the hostel is set up it was super sociable.

The hostel itself is really comfortable, super clean and well equipped (especially the kitchen).  For complete transparency, the only down side for us was the rooms got extremely warm on the morning with the sun shining into them (and the windows offered only small ventilation).  Also, on weekends because of needing the windows open you heard drag racing into the early hours.

With that said, the plus points we mention make up for this (especially the views and the staff!)

Homely hostel with amazing views, friendly staff and great guests

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights in early November in a private room. Fantastic hostel with a great common room, incredible views, fresh homemade breads for breakfast and very helpful staff. Showers could be cleaner.

Note: The noise at night (particularly over the weekend) was ear shattering - despite being 10 floors up, all you can hear until gone 4am are the local kids revving their engines and racing round the streets. Not within the control of the hostel, but worth knowing if your planning on staying.

Very good hostel

We still can’t believe this is rated THE best hostel in Argentina. The views are amazing, the location is ideal and the common area is pretty nice. The hostel has cool vibes and nice staff. But the rooms are extremely average. Bed covers seem old and very used, toilets are basic (shower in one of them was ridiculously tiny) and the rooms themselves are super basic. Be sure to bring earplugs as you will hear EVERYTHING that happens on the streets all night. Lockers are tiny, wifi is not fast, there are no curtains for privacy in the beds...anyway, I have stayed in many many hostels in South America that are waaaay better than this one. It’s a hostel, it’s well located and it’s cheap. It definitely isn’t the best you’ll find but it will do for a night or two.
