We had the ten course degustation dinner menu and it was really exceptional. Deer, kangaroo and crocodile are things I’d never ordinarily try but they were all delicious. The restaurant also adjusted almost every dish to cater for my gluten and dairy free requirements, and I think the chef quite enjoyed the challenge. Service was great and the dishes were quite adventurous. I really admire what the restaurant is trying to do by serving food that’s had minimal processing/intervention and this shows through in the flavours. It must be hard to try and keep something that isn’t mainstream up and running and successful so I felt it was my duty to share what a great experience this was. 

Amazing and daring food

This was our third stay here after having the amazing 7 course degustation dinner with matching wines next door in the restaurant.

It is always clean and comfortable which is perfect if all you want to do is sleep after an amazing dinner with the matching wines! I loved the Aesop products in the bathroom but the lack of a shower door does make the floor very wet. At $119 per couple on a Sunday night this is a great value spot!

Great value if you are dining in the restaurant!

Great location close to the amazing biota restaurant. Food was as always amazing. Restaurant reviews would be 5/5. 

The hotel rooms are convenient and clean. But a few minor details which are simple to fix and would improve the experience massively.

The shower has no door so the bathroom becomes a lake!

The tv is awful and the remote hardly works. 

The shower gel was empty when we arrived and a few dirty spots around so the housekeeping is not what it should be.

I would stay again purely because of the amazing food and the convenience. But a few little extra touches would make a massive difference. 

Nice to be close to the restaurant but rooms missing a few details! 

Booked the accommodation purely because we were eating at the restaurant. Room was average, small, pretty cold in the middle of winter even with the heater on, basic. We didn’t expect much as I had read the reviews on Trip Advisor but could be so much better.

Completely average

Before we arrived at this establishment, I received a call enquiring the approx. time of arrival which we estimated to be by 4.00pm at the latest.  The lady then said if we were later than that, we would find the room key outside Reception. Opening times for Reception is quoted as 9.00am to 5.00pm. We were surprised at the lack of space in the room. Nowhere to hang clothes, no shelves, bedside tables were very small logs which had a lamp on them.  We could not find the kettle at first, it was under the table and the only place we could plug it in was by the front door on the floor.  The only tea bags supplied were 1 Earl Grey, 1 Cammomile and 1 Peppermint, 2 sugar sachets and no coffee sachets.  The only coffee available was the espresso machine.  As reception was closed, we bought some tea and  milk from a supermarket.  There is no fridge in the room and there was a carafe of water on the bench with no cover over it.  The bathroom door did not have a stopper on it, so when you opened the door, it banged on the wall.  The shower does not have a door on it, so water floods the floor, they do supply a floor towel  but after one shower it is soaking wet.  The bed was comfortable, but when I pulled the top sheet down there was a brown stain on it (looked like a shoe print), another large stain near the middle of the sheet, and when I pulled the top sheet further down it was crumpled and looked like as if it had been slept in.  It really put me off sleeping in the bed, but had no choice, so we slept on the top sheet with the doona over us.  I did not have a good sleep.  Luckily it was for one night only.

Minimalistic and Devoid of Necessary Accessories

The room was perfectly acceptable. Simple and adequate. A more chic, basic and comfortable motel room. Close to the restaurant and our car.
However, the over-priced in-room breakfast was disappointing. Better coffee and tea needs to be included on the breakfast tray (rather than the pathetic stuff we had in our room) and perhaps more delicious bakery goods.
Instead, there were pickles, cheeses and thick ham. Lovely for a picnic or later on in the day. Although, the juice was refreshing.

Good for crashing post wining and dining!

The decor theme is all over this place to take you to their restaurant or adjoining up market bar. A pretend of dado boards with ‘once fashionable dried branches’ but do not expect comfort. In its favour it is clean but minimal basics.
Do not expect wi-fi of any value, nor a shower curtain in the basic bathroom. 
Probably convenient if you go to a function there or are too pissed to drive.

Convent to their two food outlets ONLY. 

Stayed here for one night for a wedding in Bowral. Great weekend and weather, but the worst part of the trip was staying in here. The room is overpriced $220 as far as I am concerned for what you get. 
Reception and parking is fine and as to be expected.
The rooms are small, however the bed was comfortable and decor was okay.
TV was okay, but was not very responsive to the controller.
The worst part of this room was the bathroom. 
1) No shower door, so after having a shower the bathroom becomes the amazon river. We had to ask reception to send us another set of towels to control the water leaking towards the door to the room 
2) The amount of drain bugs and flies in the bathroom again made it seem like the amazon river. 
3) Shower gel and shampoo not refilled (room obviously serviced properly before check-in). 
Not impressed with Biota rooms, we got put off so much we decided to cancel our lunch at Biota dining the next day.

Biota dining may be good? However the rooms are terrible

The room was dark and far from luxury. the"herbals" turned out to be Aesop products. The room was dark because they put timber beams in front of the windows instead of curtains.  there was no luxury at all, a $80 Motel would have been better. Absolutely overpriced.
I booked this venue as a birthday present and in the booking I asked that the room is prepared including a birthday cake and some bubbly.
At arrival I realised that this has not been done. The "Receptionist" agreed to arrange the cake and the bubly, asked us to walk around at the property. When we came back to the room, there was a cake on the sideboard, but no plates or cuttlery and even worse no space in the room to eat / prepare.
We ended up in the garden on an old wooden table and brought some a chair out from our room. Having said that, the cake was really godd :-) But I would never ever book a room there again.

Very basic and not so good service

Celebrating our anniversary, my husband decided to book the hotel so we could truly enjoy our Biota dinner. Rooms are very basic, definitely not luxurious, no ambience, not even a fridge. If I'd have known, I would put $280 towards a taxi and gone home after dinner.
