We stayed in Cakes and Ale and found it very comfortable and clean with everything we needed. It had obviously been furnished tastefully and to a very high standard when new and had been well maintained.
We shopped in Albany for our three night stay before arriving and were pleased we had as the cottage is rather remote.

Comfotable and spacious cottage

We had a very enjoyable and relaxing 3 night stay at the Kings Den and would have liked to stay longer! The accomodation is set in a  beautiful nature reserve and is very private and clean. It was wonderful to stay in such a unique and well constructed wooden holiday home and look out through the many windows to the surrounding bushland. 

We enjoyed the different areas of the King's Den; the lounge/kitchen area, spa and spacious bedroom/bathroom. The breakfast pack was delicious and fresh with more than enough food for 2 people.

A few minor challenges we had was firstly the cold, as it it takes quite a while for the warmth to travel to the bedroom from the aircon and woodfire heater in the living area. Also, restaurant options in Denmark are quite limited, so we needed to travel 30mins to Albany to eat a couple of nights. Next time we will bring more food with us! The outdoor shower was good when it worked the first day, then the second day, the hot water was not coming out. 

We highly recommend this accomodation for a relaxing break.

A relaxing stay in the King Den

We had a wonderful 3 night stay at Saltbox with 3 children. Everything felt spacious, relaxing, and very comfortable. Highlights included the quiet location, beautiful bushland surrounding the cottage, comfortable beds, indulgent spa bath, fully equipped kitchen and laundry and cosy wood fire for the cold nights. Highly recommend this cottage for a relaxing sojourn.

Relaxing, serene accommodation

We stayed a wonderfully relaxing 10 nights in salt box, Gaynor did everything to make the stay just perfect.  With a nice little touch of homemade shortbread over xmas.

Salt box is a great size home away from home and we loved the fact that the kitchen was setup just like any other kitchen so we could cook up a storm if we wanted to.  The bed was comfortable and the open walk in shower was great.

The flies and march flies at that time of the year were annoying and made it uncomfortable most of the time sitting out the back on the balcony.  It was delightfully cool in Denmark while Perth was sweltering in the heat.

We are hoping the new management will look at what’s possible with the internet.  You are only allowed so much download for your stay, but with everything being connected to the internet these days [my watch, our phones, my wireless speaker, laptop/tablet etc] it’s hard not to go over it as we did, especially for a longer stay like this.

We’ve nearly stayed in them all now.  For returning guests it would be great to have self-check-in as we know the location and drill of the cottages.

We just love the peace and serenity of this place

We stayed in Kings Den cottage for two nights on our honeymoon. The cottage was clean, well equipped, secluded and close to walking trails leading to one of the most picturesque, spectacular beaches we’ve ever seen. Teaming with bird life the cottage surrounds are a great bush backdrop. We will visit again as it is a great base for visiting both Denmark and Albany. Stan was the most delightful and gracious host, making all the effort to make the stay all the more memorable.

Just perfect!

Kings dens is a comfortable and cozy home away from home. The two rooms were nicely separated by a light and airy hall giving plenty of space to relax together or separately. 
It has Stunning views of the bush from all rooms. 
Very comfortable bed. 
The kitchen is well equipped with everything you could need, accurate to the website listing.  You’ll also find books, games, and a pair of binoculars which is great to view the beach cliffs just down the road. 
There is wifi and but there is no mobile reception which creates a great break from all that. But it’s not good for any streaming -DVDs are available but recommend downloading any audio books, shows, movies you want before arrival. 

Loved our stay - relaxing and beautiful

Relaxing in a beautiful bush setting

Four folks (2 couples) stayed at the Coral wood house for a week mid January '22. The house is a few minutes drive from Cape Howe Cottages but managed by the same people. it is located on a hillside in bushland on 50 hectares of natural bush. It is a large house, well designed , very well maintained and well equipped. It was very clean on our arrival. It is great for two couples but does have four bedrooms in total. It is in an exceptionally quiet location. The house has a landscaped garden and is home to many birds including wrens, fire tales, rosellas, honey eaters and kingfishers. There are paths to wander around the bush on the property.  
It is a short drive to Denamrk (15kms) and very close to Lowlands Beach and the Cape howe National Park.

Peaceful

My family and I had a 4 night stay in Cakes and Ale Cottage. Absolutely gorgeous and clean. Fully equipped with everything you need. It's a great base as you are between Albany and Denmark. So nice to just relax on the deck that over looks the bush and just listen to the birds and sheep in the distance! Only around the corner is Lowlands Beach which I loved as it was so quiet. Lovely place and would highly recommend to anyone.

Fantastic place to stay.

We stayed in Kings Den cottage for two nights on a recent Southern Coast trip. The cottage was immaculate, fully equipped, and in a beautiful private location with walking trails. We will visit again as it is a great base for visiting both Denmark and Albany. We treated ourselves to the breakfast hamper and it really was worth it (if only for the warm loaf of freshly baked bread!). We will stay longer next time and try one of the other cottages.

Peaceful luxury.

We spent another 6 glorious nights at Cape Howe this time staying in the Cakes n Ale Cottage.  We love the peaceful location of the cottages.

It has 2 bedrooms, 1 with a queen bed and the other with 2 singles.  The queen bed was very comfortable and had recently been replaced.

The cottage is well equipped with a full size oven, big fridge, microwave, coffee machine, pots & pans etc..

The laundry has a washing machine and dryer in it.  We found the shower recess was small but the water pressure was great.  We used the log fire a couple of nights as its cold down there.  Some wood is provided but if you need more you have to pay for it.

Looking forward to coming back and trying out another cottage - just about stayed in them all now [& some that have been sold].  This time we even seen kangaroos from the balcony 🎉
