Deciding to stay in Gulgong NSW whilst working in Mudgee this trip was the best thing we did. The atmosphere at this hotel / Pub is outstanding. Circa 1872, it has a feel all of its own. We ate here 3 nights out of our 5 staying here. 

The food is fantastic by the Chef and special thanks to Gabby & Megan behind the Bar - you will be made feel welcome as soon as you walk through the door. We will return here. Cheers Fletch & Donna / Classic Restos TV. 

Best pub in Gulgong 

Well this is an unassuming place from the outside, but wonderful inside. Alittle different and quirky with an old Australian feel. Wonderful staff, especially the gentleman who looked after us today.  The place was pretty full today in the dining room - and I now know why. Great pub menu, generous servings and VERY tasty meals. 
Would definitely return.

Local favourite.. great music and food

Stopped here for a drink prior to dinner. Lovely friendly staff, great wines by the glass. Nostalgic atmosphere, nice venue where it feels like the locals hang out. I liked the background music and music videos; also the various historic nick nacks and photos on display. Will definitely be back! Would like to try the food next time, the plates coming out of the kitchen looked very good.

Great place for a drink, friendly service, nostalgic atmosphere

Excellent value for money. Modern clean and well equipped motel rooms at the rear of this historic hotel. Rooms have microwave and toaster plus all the usual amenities. Very quiet. Friendly helpful staff. Great atmosphere in the bar, dining room & beer garden. Log fires, good pub meals & local wines all at reasonable price. The perfect place to stay right in the centre of historic Gulgong.

Excellent value in historic hotel

We found the accommodation to be comfy and clean, with plenty of consumables, and some great added touches like crockery and cutlery. Rooms were of good size and we experienced no noise from the pub at all.

Quality Property

We arrived at the Prince of Wales Hotel after 3 days of motorcycle riding. We were promptly checked in and advised of off street secure motorbike parking if needed. 

Our room was very well presented. We had a lovely meal in the hotel, experienced great customer service, had a restful nights sleep and look forward to another time when we will stay at the Prince of Wales to visit Gulgong and to spend more time to look around.

Great customer service and country hospitality

Fantastic service, great portions, reasonable prices and fresh food. I had the Mediterranean lamb salad and my husband had the bangers and mash. We would both highly recommend the dishes we had. Would definitely eat here again!

Good, fresh, pub food

Sadly we didn’t stay here but had dinner! Typical lovely country pub with great atmosphere, welcoming staff and yummy food! Loved it. Gulgong is a hidden gem - don’t miss it! Will be back as we were only passing through and had no idea it is so good

Gorgeous country pub

An extremely friendly bunch of staff at The Prince of Wales pub. The interior of the pub was amazing and our meals were sensational. My partner had the best pork ribs ever! We also stayed 2 nights in their accomodation. Good sized rooms, clean and comfortable and a 3 second walk across the courtyard to enter the pub. A great experience in Gulgong and highly recommend 😊

Great accomodation and food!

Located smack bang in the guts of gulgong's main drag perfect for accomidation owned by the prince of wales hotel,rowena and steve will make the stay for you as comfortable as you can want it my experience for 7 months from the time i was there i got pretty looked after if you want to be close to the mines ect for work which is only about a 20 minute drive straight down the road which is perfect for quick travel 
bout $60-65 overnight or $275 for a week whilst the renovation is going on to turn the ol pub in to accomodation,plenty of fenced onsite parking out the back,with everything you need for your stay no more then a minute or two walk..

Laundromat(24hrs) across the road about 50Metres which is 5dollars a load and a $1 for every 7 minutes for the dryer(was about $5 to dry 6 days of work gear so the dryer was pretty good)

I.g.a is across the road which itself has had a fair few renos and for the better with plenty of new stock and food options with a bottle-o in shop too

Shell and Bp are only a minute drive in either direction of the place for easy access to petrol

Pie shop about 3 doors down opens around 5:15-5:30am in the morning depending on the day if you want brekky/pies/coffee ect other wise again across the road on the corner about 4:30am at the bankcafe? Does alright coffees and beef brisket rolls too otherwise there is absolute nothing else morning wise unless your going to mudgee for a feed on the way which is about 20 minutes drive!

The Accomodation itself is probaly one of the better choices ive had working away for the 7 months i stayed here never really fully occupied cept maybe a few nights in the fortnight when theres shutdowns on with the 2 or 3 regulars which like myself basically had the commercial to ourselves where everyone just does there own thing is quiet but all in all were all pretty good bunch of people the whole time there!.most of the rooms all just got upgraded with new aircon/heating in the rooms so its a bonus for winter and summer whem the temperatures can be a right pest,.kitchen has fridge/freezer microwaves and the boiler.but offers a bbq cooker in the old beer garden out the back which was always good especially with a butcher selling meat at good prices directly across from the carpark..commuinty tv room and showers which are both cleaned daily and are actually in good clean conditon with a good blast of hotwater if you enjoy that..options of balcony rooms which give a good view of the mayne street outside but the hilton of all rooms is deffiantly downstairs in 112 if you get the chance of picking rooms.

The prince of wales hotel do offer pretty good feeds if you choose to eat out somewhere the thursday night $6 scnitty and chips and the $6 lunch's were choice! if you ever got the chance for a counter lunch away from work before the pandemic of covid kinda wrecked certain things around the place but the pizzas and burgers are still mean options

Worth checking out if your in area and if i was back in that neck of the woods again for work i wouldnt feel shy about staying again thats for sure
