Motel certainly did not look inviting from the outside, boy when we opened the door to our room, big shock, room was lovely, spacious  everything perfect, bathroom and shower great, larger than normal shower. 

Fabulous

I was at Collie Motel for over 4 months as accommodation for work. Wonderful queen bed, air-con, great en-suite, very close to all amenities. Coles, Woolworths and shops are very close, the town swimming pool is close too. Staff are friendly and helpful, nothing bad to say about the place. 

Great place to stay

We had booked into the Banksia Motel, we booked in went to our room, just when we were getting unpacked, there was a tap on the door. It was the receptionist to say sorry we have double booked your room and please leave now. We have booked you into the Collie Motel. Not in the best of moods we left ( what could we do? )
The Collie Motel was very basic, but clean, the bed was comfortable, heater worked well and the water was hot. We had a full weekend planned, so would only in the room to sleep. It turned out to be far closer to centre, which meant no driving. We slept well. It was cheaper. And if we come down to Collie again I think we may book here again! 
The motel is tired and it does need some work, but it was clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly.

Basic but clean

Ok, so as long as you're not looking for anything terribly flash, this hotel will be fine. The bed is comfortable, clean, good pillows. Spare pillows, electric blanket, regular blanket, all in the room if you need them. Portable heater. Old, but working aircontitioner. I really think it's over priced, but in a small town where their isn't much choice, you have to stay somewhere. A lot of night shift workers sleep here during the day. Free wifi but poor signal.

Good enough to rest your head.

This hotel has improved since last review was written. Room was clean and no complaints although still basic room.

This motel is within walking distance of a good selection of restaurants.

Overall a good hotel to overnight if you are moving on like us.

Practical hotel

We stayed around the corner at their Forest Apartments. Beautiful view, nice little garden, quiet complex (until 5.30am when the nightshift got 'home'!). Older rooms but clean - fine just to sleep in after a day racing at the Collie Motorplex and getting ready for following day at track. $150 was more palatable for 3 people than $230 at Collie Heights (now Comfort). Usually stay there but price went up $40 in a month!

Fit for purpose

I travel frequently throughout reginal Australia, Im fairly easy going regarding amenities,just give me a clean bed,facilities etc and all is well.I review to Trip Advisor only when the stay is outstanding or the"pits"
This Motel easily is the new standard for my defnition of the "pits."
My experience occoured in early May when,arriving in Collie just on dark,too tired and hungry to read any reviews or research Collie accomodation I made cardinal mistake number 1 "looks alright from the road"booked in ,then cardinal mistake 2 didnt inspect room properly prior to paying.We just cast bags into room,went looking for food (small town WA after hours food? that is a review in itslef!).
Back to room well after dark and moteloffice shut,what can I say but the surprises came thick and fast! As soon as the door was opened we were assulted with a smell of mustiness eminating from everything (think wet dog smell and your in the ballpark).Like the previous reviewer stated "the whole place is in a desperate need of a makeover"this make over hasnt happened!
The paint scheme was seventies purple walls,threadbare carpet (calico showing through in traffic areas) furnished in stuff that would struggle to be sold in a opshop.
Ok,still with me? at this point I can live with the above,shut the eyes and you could be in any five star.
The double bed (not queen) sitting on this to steady onslef from the assult on the eyes,nose and hearing, yes!, its on a major road and the semis rumbled ALL night!.You could feel the grit on the quilt when you put your hand down.On closer bed inspection the sheets were stained (for the record they were laundered,when? not yesterday thats for sure!).The crisis point in this tale occours when the pillows were closely inspected and HORRORS...they were tan with sweat marks,not just one pillow but all were the same,as it was far too late just to run and book somewhere else,we postphoned the shower until the morning so the towels could be used to wrap the pillows to create a barrier between head and pillow and tried not to think about where the towels were last used.
The tv was one of the smallest I have found in a motel room to date ,positioned high on the purple wall, near impossible to see properly from the bed. Toilet,shower were functional ,cheap"cleanish" but from the sixties or early seventies.Bedside light on the wall not working so reading was out of the question. 
As I said the shower was postphoned to the morning so the towels could be put to more urgent use as pillow protectors overnight,after  a terrible nights sleep, falling into the shower to rid oneslef from the wetdog smell of the nights stay, no @#$%^ hot water!.
That was it I lost it !, dressed quickly ,down to office with key to let owner know about the multiple shortcomings of his business.
I was firm,polite,didnt swear or shout ,constructive in my criticism.
The sad part was he listened but didnt understand that I was doing him a favour pointing out how to improve his business.
I say to you reader of this review, DO NOT STAY AT THIS MOTEL it is far below any standard that a reasonable person would judge as suitable in this day and age.
