We had a great long weekend away at Hybiscus Lodge, despite the awful weather! We stayed in the One Bedroom apartment and it was spotlessly clean. Comfy bed, great facilities and close to the water, Aldi and the Lakes Entrance Bowls club (which for $5 you can become a social member - great for frequent visitors). Plenty of room for our portacot for our little one, who had plenty of room to play. BBQ facilities are good too. And we were able to get a room next door to family who came with us and were staying longer. Looking forward to coming back in the warmer weather to try out the pool. 

Great weekend away

Very comfortable stay. Very clean. Beds very comfortable. Swimming pool outside apt. A good night's sleep -  a cold night so we found the heating and electric blankets very useful & convenient. Marina across the road.

"Comfortable, Clean & Central"

We have stayed here about six times over the years due to the great location, short walk to the cafes and shops. Very quiet. 

We were impressed with the renovations, especially the blinds and bed linen. Tastefully
decorated. More saucepans would be helpful.

Great Location

I found this little gem when looking at other accommodation. The price is great for the 2 bedroom unit we scored. Great location to walk to dinner each night after a day of exploring in the car. Would happily stay here again. Only tip would be byo power board from home as there aren't enough PowerPoint's for everyone to charge their electronics at the same time

Lovely

Stayed 3 nights at this lodge in a one bedroom unit. Very clean, modern and pleasant. Kitchen was well presented with a good cooktop and oven. Bathroom was very clean and filled with good bath products. Washing machine is available. A double bed and single bed with comfortable mattress. Really good to sleep in with electric blankets especially in the cold night.
Nearby is the waterfront of the lakes and a good size beautiful playground for kids. If you want to cook, bbq stands are around. If not, fish and chips, pizza, Chinese or Italian cuisine. Also ice creamery with mini golf to past time.
I recommend highly to stay here as the staff is very helpful on the phone even though it is not manned. So why not stay here and find out for yourself. Enjoy your stay as I did.

Hibernate at Hibiscus Lodge.

My advice is to check in here for no more than a night. 

The definition of self contained seems to be different everywhere we stay, with this on the cheaper side. 

Although tidy and close to the main strip there were a few let downs. 

- No oil, salt, pepper or dish brush to clean dirty cookware.

- No laundry detergent to use the washing machine. 

- No doona covers, instead a doona between two sheets.

- Beds were extremely uncomfortable. Considering you can buy them online for a dime I’d suggest a few glasses of wine or something to help you sleep on these concrete blocks. 

 


Will look for other options next time 

Rooms were not clean, lounge was filthy. Outside courtyard was dirty. As far as self contained goes, this is correct. Expected clean rooms, only to find cobwebs, dust and dirty shower. On the plus, staff gave fresh towels after 5 days, it was raining so couldn’t wash the ones we had. Good location, close to main road. Room had reasonable access for wheelchair and shower chair

Average

Very clean. Comfortable bed. Everything we needed in kitchen. Self check in. Across from lake. A walk into town not to far. Good location. Two great recliners you watch tv. Paint work was rough on interior of room had got paint all over blind. Bit noisy. Great pool area great price 

Clean

A pleasant enough stay, reasonably priced, in an excellent location, close to beach, restaurants, etc. Fairly standard motel accommodation, a little bit on the tired side but the owners are clearly doing a lot to correct that.

Good price for basic accommodation

The front screen door to our motel apartment was broken. This was not an issue the first night. But on the second night it was, when the wind picked up and it started to rain. 

The door's banging woke us up and try as we could, we couldn't secure the broken door's bracket to the broken door's hinge, against the wall. 

I rang the information number listed in the motel's confirmation email and was given a choice of options and a number to call. But we were desperate to stop the loud banging - both against our front door, and then as it swung back and hit the connecting wall to the next unit. 

We finally jammed a tea towel against the door and pulled the broken screen door bracket against it to secure it. 

The carpets were truly disgusting with many stains. We ended up wearing our shoes inside because the carpet was so bad it made the bottom of our feet dirty. 

Management made much of the requirement against the cooking or consuming of seafood in the apartment, which we respected. But this contract goes two ways. We did not get a good contract in return, from our perspective. 

For $200 a night we also expected a truthful representation of the apartment. Our back door faced a wall and the front door, the car park.  Nor did we have any vista of the river, as shown on the website.

We have waited a week for management to respond to our complaints. We have heard nothing. All we wanted was an apology.
