We have stayed a few times and it remains a fave. A peaceful break, Autumn is a lovely time to visit, making the drive here extra pretty.  Surrounded by countryside and immersed in colonial history. A lovely bunch of animals on the farm, that our daughter looks forward to visiting each year. Staff are always welcoming, the accommodation cosy and not pretentious.  A treasure to be able to experience all that Brickendon is.

Always charming

It was great to be in the same estate that convicts once toiled from the 1820’s. Our cottage was called ‘Pea in the Pod’ and had everything needed for a comfortable stay including breakfast provisions. From the bay window we had expansive views of the fields. We were able to wander around the estate after hours.

A unique visit

We stayed in Pumpkin cottage and were absolutely delighted with everything. The cottage was fully equipped, and had a wonderful rustic charm. The bed was comfortable. It was so peaceful and the view from the veranda was stunning. Our hosts couldn’t have been more helpful and the breakfast provisions were amazing. I would definitely stay here again, thank you for a wonderful experience 

Rustic cottage with wonderful amenities. Peace and quiet rules

We stayed in Gardener Cottage and were absolutely gobsmacked how gorgeous it was, and so much history in the furnishings and care with the restoration.   The bricks on the bathroom floor have thumbprint markings, i assume convict? The farm animals are divine and hands on.  If I had small kids, I would stay in the  old Farm cottage close to the animals. For quiet and gorgeousness, gardeners cottage.  For proximity to the amazing gardens and the cutest cottage I have ever seen, Coachman's cottage.  We even had multicoloured eggs and bread  cereals etc provided.  The estate has been lovingly cared for and it shows.  Absolute highlight.

History, farm animals, the most divine cottage with so much beauty around it I could barely cope!!!

Wonderfully historic cottages to stay in. Ours had a beautiful little garden. It was very well furnished and some of the best breakfast provisioning ever. It was our own little private haven, much nicer atmosphere than Woolmers. The staff were immediately available when needed and very friendly. It was wonderful to be surrounded by this great tourist attraction.

Historic, atmospheric, well appointed cottage

We booked accommodation at the gardeners cottage for two nights. Very rustic but comfortable. This is an experience not your usual hotel type stay. We loved it it maybe not for everyone. Guests have free access to the farm village and the heritage gardens. Rural and very peaceful with generous breakfast provisions. Try it.

Rural retreat experience.

Staying in a convict-built cottage!  A wonderful experience.  Thankfully, it has a modern kitchen and bathroom, with washing machine and dryer.  Tastefully furnished with period pieces, an open fire in the loungeroom, with plenty of firewood too. Breakfast provisions were provided for our 2 night stay, with eggs fresh from their chickens.  We were free to wander around the UNESCO listed property and look at the other buildings (that weren't occupied, and the estate chapel.  A real time capsule. And very quiet!


Highly recommended

Our family loved our stay at this beautiful estate. So much history restored and available for people to enjoy. We stayed in  the 291 year old Farmhouse, was perfect with open fire, underfloor herring in the bathroom and a view out the back to the chapel. Our granddaughter loved been able to pat the baby lambs & we enjoyed all the history. A walk around the homestead estate gardens was also enjoyed

Beautiful historical stay

Had wanted to visit Brickendon for quite a while but it truly exceeded my expectations. What a very special place in Australian history! We stayed for 2 nights in Pumpkin Cottage, rustic but very comfortable with our wood fire keeping us toasty warm at night. The cottage overlooked paddocks and it was a joy to sit on our veranda with a cuppa and watch the new born lambs at play. Breakfast was adequate and after a visit to the wonderful IGA in Longford, we stocked up and had dinner at Brickendon both nights. Learning more of Brickendon's history, exploring the convict built farm and gardens, feeding the animals and talking to the friendly people at the farm all contributed to making this one of our most memorable stays anywhere. I really hope we get the opportunity to go back.

A very special place to stay and explore

Stayed first week of September in the Gardeners Cottage. It’s away from the other buildings & enjoys excellent rural views. Photos attached will assist. Our only company were the sheep. This accom option had everything including a full kitchen & roaring fire. Brekkie was awesome. Whilst we could have simply left in the morning, we chose to stay an extra half-hour to explore the Estate as was suggested. What is at Brickendon doesn’t jump out at you from the gate, nor does their own website provide enough views of the beauty within. You have to go passed the first line of buildings from the carpark to understand. We stayed on site for another 3 hours, which was totally unexpected & explored the numerous historic buildings, walked across rolling fields to the jetty & patted an assortment & a lot of very friendly farm animals. 
Nearby is the village of Longford. Well worth meandering through.
After 14 days in Tassie, Brickendon remains in our top 3 favourites for close-up unobstructed wander through history. What could only be described as a sensational wedding venue option for those considering.
Tip: Local pizza shop in Longford delivers to Gardeners Cottage - & they were absolutely superb pizzas.
We should have stayed two nights & spent more time exploring more of the surrounding villages from here. There will definitely be a next time at Brickendon Estate.
