My boyfriend + I stayed here for 1 night passing through to Airlie Beach. The room was clean and spacious with a table, chairs, bed + tv. The bathroom was clean + the shower was powerful. The lady on reception was friendly + the room was only $79 for a double. I would recommend + I would definitely stay here again :) 

Perfect for our overnight stay

I flew in on Friday night and reception was shut. So there was a note on the door for my room number. The light and fan was on. The room was very clean and the shower pressure was the best

Undercover parking.

Clean and tidy worth the money

We have stayed here regularly for 6 years or so, on our way to & from FNQ where we stay/visit family. 
Sure it's basic. 
BUT bonus....it's clean, quiet & totally fit for our purpose.

Previous workers in reception were always  super welcoming & in Dec 2020 the new staff were equally so.

Family travelling north/south often stay here as well.

Family & I love it

We arrived late and left early. What I was really impressed by was management left the Aircon on for us so our room was cold when we arrived on a 40 degree day, that was very welcoming. Was good having a mini fridge, a tea and coffee station, free wifi which WASN’T SLOW!!! Call me easily impressed but in such a short time I was very impressed by such a small business.

The night

Average stay, 3 stars for the friendly staff and cleanliness , parking undercover  was big enough for large cars and access was easy.
Smoking was allowed at the door which hung around the whole front, noise was condensed, and could hear everything outside from the room, including the neighbours arguing.

Thanks but not again

Looks to be in the process of being updated while we were there. Just needs bathrooms updated and beds and an outside paint job to finish off. Very friendly staff. Decor in room was new and has modernised the room. Great for a budget stay.

Sun plaza

Nice, medium sized (20 plus rooms) off the Bruce Highway on the south side of Mackay. Pretty much a standard Motel with large rooms (Queen size and a single bed) and all the usual accoutrements. Reasonably priced and fair value. It’s looking a bit tired but not in the rooms. Pool and free WIFI. Recommended for an overnighter.

But spacious and suitable for a brief stay.
Good bed, table chairs, fridge, microwave etc, all things necessary for overnight.
Drive up to your door........easy access for those with mobility problems.
Close to airport.
Lots of small Maintainence issues constantly overlooked by motel management & staff.

Old................

Stayed here for 1 night whilst on my way to Whitsundays island. The place is ok for 1 night but it is old and tired. Upside its right on the main highway and there are plenty of places to eat nearby. Rooms smelt musty and slightly damp, but i had a good night's sleep so can't complain

The lady at reception is really lovely, friendly and helpful - a real asset to this motel. The room was very dated which is not a problem really considering the very reasonable price of $75 a night. It was amusing to see an old VCR machine attached to the wall. There were 2 mismatched chairs (one very rickety) and a table missing paint, a picture from maybe the 80s or 90s. A new pic from KMart and maybe a cafe set of table and chairs for 50 bucks from Bunnings would have made a difference (and removing the defunct VCR). The shower was amazing. Seriously - when you've been on the road all day, a good hot, fast flowing shower makes all the difference. I didn't care about the dated decor but sadly the bed let the whole place down. A very old bed with springs jabbing into my ribs all night meant I had barely any sleep.
