I booked this apartment which was on Liverpool street as opposed to Elizabeth street. Nevertheless, I really liked being tucked away with cute restaurants opposite and a nice ambience given China Town is a stone's throw away.

The apartment was excellent and felt very homely. I had my family visit over the weekend and they loved the wooden floors and the provision of a dishwasher. The major issue we had was the lack of pots and pans. The frying pan that was provided was absolutely terrifying. But once I made a call to the lady who gave me the keys, she dropped off a brand new set of pots and pans (about 6 in total) and a new knife as well. I thought that was so nice and appreciated her prompt response as opposed to trying to argue over a single stupid pan (you'd be surprised at other apartments doing this).

I would recommend this for a short period of time (maybe 2-4 nights) as there is no daily cleaning or change in towels or linen. After a while, you do need the place to be nicely cleaned up. Overall, a pleasant stay and great service. Will be booking again when I need a bigger apartment!

Cute apartment and good service

I stayed here with my husband and two sons and the positive were the swimming pool (although the boys had a hard time with the chlorine) and the handy location for shopping (QV building).  The booking was disorganised so we were upgraded but when I called to meet the person to get the keys as arranged, she had gone home so had to travel an hour back to give them to me.  Luckily I was running late so it was okay.  When we arrived in the apartment one of the windows in the main bedroom was open and it took us ages and some WD40 to get it shut again.  At one stage the person was going to leave the window open and had to insist we fix it as it would have been too cold at night.  She said there was an air conditioner, but that's not the point.  At 10am In the morning we tried to make a cup of tea and the fuse blew so we had to call to find out how to get the electricity back on.  We figured out the kettle was faulty so the manager offered to drop one in.  She didn't arrive until 5pm as had been flat out with other problems with the apartments.  We mainly used the microwave as the pots had old food burnt onto the bottom of them, gross.  I reached up to grab a spare pillow from the main bedroom cupboard and not only was there no pillowcase, I found someone else's used pjs and underwear sitting up there!  Cleaners had missed this.

Great location but apartment built cheaply

For the money we paid to stay the week - well we got what we paid for. Location is fantastic, close to everything however the room wasnt that great. Lounge was revolting and leather was torn and tearing away all over it. Windows were really filthy also. I would stay there again, however if I had a few extra hundred dollars I would pay for a better place. Towels and bathmat were washed in the same load and still being finished off when we arrived. There was also a constant horrible noise coming from under the door of wind gushing through. Two of the lifts were broken the entire time we were there only leaving us to use one. The apartment was large though and served the purpose. Comunal carpets were revolting.

Get what you pay for

We were upgraded prior to arrival to a 2 bedroom from Elizabeth st to Russell st in QV building. The apartment was in a great location with shops, trams, and restaurants close by, apartment was warn and not over well kept, beds were a little uncomfortable with 1 bed having a few lose springs, could have used more pillows, happy to stay there again at price of Elizabeth st but would not pay full normal price.    

Russell/ lonsdale st great location 

We arrived to a woman named tui texting us when it would be suitable for her to meet us to let us in. We then were showed up to the room that on first glance seemed ok, awful decor, but ok. Once we put our bags down and looked around we noticed just how bad it was. Firstly, whoever cleaned the apartment obviously doesn't have eyes. It was disgusting. When the first thing you have to do on holidays is go to the supermarket to buy exit mould to clean the shower, you know your in a place that should be reserved for backpackers. To charge $150 a night for a place that has a "three seater couch" that only one person can sit on because it's broken is disgraceful. They should also mention on their website that the room doesn't actually have a door, so that people like ourselves would not even contemplate staying there. To say that te photos on their website misleading is an understatement. The carpets were DISGUSTING. We have a 10 week old baby and had we known that we would be walking into an apartment that had clearly been overused and under attended to, we would have stayed at the mantra, in fact we almost considered forfeiting our money to stay in an apartment were I could actually put our son on the floor without fear he would catch something. We had friends at the mantra on Russell who paid $5 a night more than us for: a clean beautiful apartment, their room made up daily, the exact same appliances and kitchen facilities (without the disinfecting requirements of ours) and a beautiful clean bathroom with a nice balcony. The apartment could be nice, if you actually cleaned the place and put some effort in. But having filthy floors, dirty windows, mouldy bathrooms, hard plastic mattresses with two limp smelly pillows, and a broken (almost safety hazard) of a couch isn't going to get them repeat business. No wonder they have a no cancellation policy. I would too if I knew what standard they held yourselves to.
