My wife and I were looking for a special expereince for our anniversary - and we found it at 187 Merrijig. This is one the best boutique accomodations we've ever stayed in. The unit felt spacious, especially with the indoor/outdoor space opened up, and the views are serene. We were impressed with the decor - the quality, the colours, and the design touches. The pool provided a haven to relax in and around after some tough hikes at Buller. Ainsley was great at communicating with us before arrival and a wonderful host during our stay. And the breakfasts, oh my goodness they were magnificent!

Serenity and luxury

Photos cannot fully capture the atmosphere and feeling of staying at 187 Merrijig. It must be experienced firsthand to be fully appreciated. 

From the moment we arrived, we were struck by the stunning natural surroundings and the luxurious decor.  The interior design is meticulously put together with beautiful materials and earthy colours and textures that create a very warm and inviting atmosphere.  

The bathroom setup and quality bath products feel like you’ve just stepped into a luxurious spa.  I was transfixed by the gorgeous pendant hanging above the bath and the mood lighting, which can be changed to suit your preference, added a touch of ambiance and made it even more relaxing. 

Ross and Ainsley are super friendly and welcoming.  Every morning a scrumptious 5-star breakfast would be delivered to our room at a time that was convenient for us. The spread was absolutely mouthwatering; warm fresh bread and croissants, an assortment of fruit, eggs cooked perfectly, artisan cheeses and meats, and so much more. 

Sunsets are breathtaking. I recommend finding a spot on the hill with some drinks and nibblies to watch the sunset surrounded by nature. The sounds of local wildlife make the experience all the more magical. 

We had originally planned on eating out but decided to BBQ on the property instead to enjoy our surroundings.

We had a wonderful sleep experience.  There's nothing quite like waking up naturally.  The king bed mattress was the perfect firmness and the quality linen added an extra layer of luxury and comfort.

Though a broken toe kept me from exploring the full extent of the property, I still found plenty of ways to enjoy myself during my stay. Watching the lamas, ponies, and donkeys graze in the fields was a true delight, and lounging by the pool, which is perfectly heated, while taking in the stunning scenery and gorgeous landscaped gardens was pure joy.

I highly recommend 187 Merrijig to anyone looking for a truly luxurious and relaxing getaway in the country.


Pure Heaven on Earth!

From the moment you turn into the driveway the stress leaves your body. 187 Merrijig is the perfect place to relax, unwind and disconnect. Let’s face it, you’re on a hundred acre property in country Victoria, just breathe! Ainsley and Ross are brilliant hosts, the suites are so well designed and you are left wanting for nothing. Comfortable, spacious and spectacular scenery. Don’t forget to give Chip a pat and get ready to play fetch.

The perfect peaceful getaway

187 Merrijig is luxury and comfort from beginning to end. Ainsley and Ross are the most wonderful hosts who have thought through every detail to make the stay truly enjoyable. From the fabulous and delicious breakfast (it's a must to order!), the fireplace, the views, the comfy bed, the special touches of prosecco, beer, food to nibble through to the greeting from Chip the Kelpie (the best tail wag ever!)....I cannot speak more highly of my stay. Looking forward to staying again.

Didn't want to leave!

Ainsley is a lovely person and a very welcoming host! We really enjoyed our stay and we would definitely come back in summer to enjoy the beautiful pool. Breakfast was delicious with so many options made with so much care by her (fruits, cheese, bacon, eggs, bread, freshly squeezed orange juice!!!, yoghurt, jam...), I highly recommend adding it to your booking. The bed was soooo comfortable, the view of the room 1 is amazing, and everything was so clean and tidy. I think it was one of the best places we stayed in Australia! They have Netflix, great wifi signal, a webster bbq, which my partner enjoyed a lot. We were welcomed with local beer, delicious sparkling wine, cheese, prosciutto and chocolate. You can see that Aisnley thinks about every detail, which makes everything even more special. We loved the coloured lightning and heated floors in the wet area. We had an amazing time celebrating my partner's birthday, he had so much fun watching the native birds from the sun room and filling up the fire set. Plus, they have alpacas, donkeys and mini ponies as pet, which were so adorable and looked very well cared. I really like meeting and feeding them! I have nothing to complain, everything was beyond our expectations and I will recommend this place to all my friends.

A lovely and relaxing weekend

We stayed in Suite 2 which was stunningly designed and had beautiful views of the surrounding hills.  Breakfast was delicious.  The bed was comfortable.  Could not fault it.  A fabulous place to stay and relax.

Relaxing weekend away

What a beautiful setting! We completely enjoyed staying at 187 Merrijig. Ainsley was the perfect host; we were well looked after but given absolute privacy. The suites are well set out and decorated with unique art pieces.  The breakfasts were delicious and well worth adding to our booking.  We will be back and we will be telling our friends.

Best Breakfast Ever

We had high expectations before arriving but these were surpassed once we entered Suite 2, gorgeous.
The rooms beautifully decorated with every detail carefully considered.  Beautiful artwork, quality fittings and furniture, considered LED lighting, underfloor heating in the wet room and block-out curtains.
Suite 2 is double aspect and overlooks the pool to the valley below.  We found ourselves content to spend time watching the birds in the garden, the weather roll across the valley, or beside the fire place reading the books or listening music.  
We had breakfast included and I'm so glad we did.  Ainsley, prepared a delicious feast and consistent with everything, didn't miss a trick with the produce selected, presentation and her culinary skills.
Our host also found the right balance between hosting and giving us space.
We would have happily stayed longer but were excited to be seen off by a couple of Wedge Tailed Eagles as we left.
Highly recommend treating yourself to a few nights at 187Merrijig.

A break from our routine

If you need some time out in an incredibly relaxing environment where every detail has been thought of, this is for you. Our suite was perfect, with wall to ceiling views of lovely native gardens and rural landscape. It very quiet and perfect for just relaxing and enjoying the native birdlife and the gorgeous group of alpacas and friendly donkeys. The breakfasts, prepared and delivered to our door by Ainsley were a highlight. 187 Merrijig feels a thousand miles away from city life but is an easy drive to Mansfield which has fantastic food options. Thanks Ainsley and Ross for a memorable long weekend.

Didn't want to leave

We went for our anniversary weekend away in Suite 2. After a slow drive through a farm gate, and past the locals (paddocks of cows),   The views across the rolling green hills of farmland were lovely and relaxing, with absolutely stunning sunsets. Our hosts Ainsley and Ross welcomed us with a fully-stock and complimentary mini bar with local beer & wine, soft drink, cheeses, teas and Nespresso machine. The rain shower and generous bath were lovely, the private swimming pool overlooking the hills was amazing after days of hiking in the local area, and the sitting room with fireplace was cosy. Overall, a lovely hidden gem on 15 mins drive past Mansfield, VIC.
