We haven’t been for quite awhile to the Burwood, it still is the best steak restaurant in Newcastle hands down, the service was pretty good and we enjoyed our meal there. Yes it is not the cheapest steak, however they come with green beans & a few large potato wedges, so there is no real need to order sides, but they will satisfy big eaters, enjoy.

Wonderful relaxing decor coupled with faststic steaks and produce all combined to cellerbrate this wine event.

Top shelf dining, it's more like a restaurant than a pub.
Very nice and offers a wine list to well accompany all food.

Margan Wine Degustation

First restaurant meal after 3 months of COVID-19 Lockdown and it was a Saturday lunch at the Burwood Inn for 3 of us on the Queens Birthday Long Weekend.
Booked well ahead to make sure we got in with the numbers restrictions, and got the later lunch seating at 1.30pm. We got seated in the bistro area which is nice and light and bought our drinks at the bar - Stone & Wood Pacific Ale Tao beer, and a bottle of Margan Shiraz from the Hunter Valley, and we had steaks all round which we all agreed were perfect.
So yes, the Burwood Inn is as good as ever.
Loved it.

Just as good after 3 months of Lockdown

Can’t complain with the accomodation. Very clean room, cool aircon, straight above the main bar but couldn’t hear it. Shared bathroom was modern and clean with monsoon shower heads. 4 bathrooms for 8 rooms so no waiting. Had a great steak in the dining room downstairs. I’ll definitely be back.

Clean, comfortable, convenient

We came for dinner on a Saturday evening, we had booked a table which we were glad we did as it was busy every table full and it’s obvious as to why, the food was fabulous! 
All of the meals that came to the table looked and tasted great! We will definitely return and can’t understand why we have never eaten here before! Yummy! 
I didn’t take any pictures unfortunately but highly recommend a steak! 

Great steaks 

For the cost of a night's stay, it was worth it, the food was absolutely exceptional, I had the Lamb Cutlets which were cooked beautifully, and the Mash was just perfect, my other half had one of the steaks, and it looked absolutely mouthwatering, he enjoyed it thoroughly! The staff were awesome, very outgoing, but laid back at the same time, could see how much they worked as a team, and had fun doing it. The room was pretty cool, awesome comfortable King Sized bed! Only complaints would be that they didn't have any ensuites, or kitchenettes, the bathrooms and kitchen were down the hall de-tatched from the rooms, needing to pee more than once during the night after a few bevvys was a bit of a sport, lol. And no balcony, I understand it's a smoke free place, but also making it smoker friendly would have scored it a 10 outta 10 from us. Overall, great area, awesome music, and people. Fantastic food. Was a lovely place to spend my birthday, so we're giving it an 8 out of 10.

Was great, except...

Very good steaks. They are justifiably proud of those. Appetizers are very good as well. Everything was well seasoned and presented 
I would like to see the option of French fries/skinny fries rather than just potato wedges. 
Weird thing that all drinks must be collected and paid for separately from the bar. That is inconvenient. 
Perhaps the restaurant part is operated independently. 
A bit noisy to have a conversation. 
Nevertheless,  a nice evening with good and fairly priced food.

Great steak

My wife and I have been going to the Burwood Inn Hotel restaurant for lunch on Sundays for a couple of years. It is a great place for family lunches with our young grandchildren. The food was always consistently very good and drinks are at pub prices. Sunday a week ago I booked lunch for two. When we arrived we found that there is now only a Brunch menu. We didn’t stay. We are very disappointed that a full lunch menu is not now available. We hope that this is not permanent. The Burwood Inn restaurant is just perfect for cold, rainy winter days and hot summer days. I don’t want to down rate the restaurant as the meals are very good for lunches on other days. We will just miss our Sunday lunches there. 

No More Sunday Lunch 

Most of us had oysters for starter & they were yummy. Some had the fish & others had steak which was tender & juicy. The fish was excellent. Staff friendly & service was very prompt even though it was  busy. Prices are expensive but good value. However if on budget give it a miss.

Great food but expensive

We have dined here few times under the old management and also current. The last two times we’ve been here we’ve had to wait for our table ( 7. & 7.30pm time slots) only to find the restaurant partly empty when we are seated. It seems that once a table has been allocated the staff are unable to give you a table even though there are empty tables. We were party of four.
We noticed that once seated some tables remained empty throughout our meal?
It’s also annoying that you have to purchase drinks at the bar and if you purchase a bottle of wine the bar staff ask if you are dining in restaurant. If you are, you are told that you’ll be given glasses by your waitress at the table. Well this doesn’t work because once you told to take a seat until your table is ready you don’t have a glass to use while you wait. So you’ll need to go back to bar to get glasses. This was the same under old management. If your table is ready there is no issue.
My advice is to check you table is ready before you purchase drinks.
Our entrees we’re ok, ribs excellent but steaks a bit ordinary as not well cooked. No char marks at all it was like the grill wasn’t hot enough or steaks were turned way too early.
Disappointed so hopefully it improves.
