We loved the open fireplace, the original low ceilings in the original part of the homestead we stayed in, the Lochinvar Hotel's friendlieness and yummy food, Pippi the dog, and the history of this gorgeous homestead. We hope to come back some day soon.  Robyn made us feel welcome and relaxed, we had a great farm fix being up from Sydney town. Thank you.

Comfort and character

This Beautiful Old Historic homestead was built in the 1840,s and you feel the history as soon as you walk in. The Old meets the new with a beautiful marble tiled bathroom and huge bath with some modern accessories. The lights throughout the whole house are all rope from the ceiling and open fire places a highlight in the dining and sitting rooms. There is also a billiard/pool table room and the front verandah has a ""Feel the Serenity"  view of the Hunter Valley.

What a Gem

We had our new years accomodation cancelled last minute. As a result we changed our plans and booked this awesome house. 
Elena and Robyn were super helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The house is great with beautiful high ceilings, antique furniture and lots of space to fit our large group. All the live stock and the dogs on the property really made you feel like you were getting a slice of country living. The cooked breakfast in the morning was also great. We would definetly stay again. 

Relaxing visit in the hunter

We recently had our bridal party stay here after our wedding in May. The house is a beautiful old home that was originally built in the 1840's. The rooms have a historic, rustic charm that look over the rolling hills. The beds were comfortable and the cooked breakfast was just what we needed the morning after. It was a great place for us all to stay together, sleeping 12 people. The house also came with a large living room complete with pool table and fireplace. It was a great price and we'll definitely be back again.

Historic old house with rustic charm

Great heritage house in wonderful countryside.  Property is heritage listed and has lovely heritage furniture.  Rooms are large and comfortable with shared bathrooms.  Lovely cooked breakfast in the morning  with opportunity to enjoy conversations with fellow guests.  Great views from the windows of countryside and large watercourse.

Heritage property in middle of countryside

We stayed only 1 night in order to see the Cat Stevens concert at Roche Estate. It is a old country manor house which the main house is over 150years old. It had old world interiors with very high ceilings and furnishings.    It is reasonably clean and comfortable but needs a lot of TLC. The house and gardens would have been great in their hayday but time has dimished their shine. The girl catetaker was friendly and helpful. It is a basic B&B and has several bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a dinning room, a sitting room and billard room. There is even a small swimming pool. The views of the surrounding paddocks and hills are very nice. It is quiet and has a relaxing atmosphere. It is about 15mins drive from the main wine area in the Hunter and about the same from Maitland.

Old world homestead but needs sprucing up ...

The place is historic, clean inside and the host was delightful. However the outdoor area is in dire need of some TLC - especially the garden and pool area.  A month or so of gardening and pool maintenance with some painting here and there would do the trick.  Photos aren’t a true representation of what it is really like.

Historic but TLC needed

I made a booking and asked to reschedule. Apparently it’s not in their policy to do so and I couldn’t even get a refund on the deposit. With no policy listed on the website, Elena (who I was conversing with via email) said the policy could be found on 3 other websites. I looked them all up and no policy on rescheduling the date.

Anyway I’m quite glad we didn’t end up staying there as some of the bad reviews are horrific! Run down state of the house as well as questionable hygiene in the kitchen. And worst of all : no locks on the room doors!

Also, the varying price display on the 3 websites are dodgy.
