Accommodation is basic but that is all you need - very clean and tidy. So relaxing to be able to have a meal and drinks whilst drinking in the ocean vista. Snorkeling wasn't that great but there had been rain the previous week so water was a bit murky due to this event. 

Mad if you don't ...

We stayed here for two nights and absolutely loved it! The current manager (I think they rotate every few months) is so warm & welcoming - she would have to be the “star” of the show at the holiday village! 
There’s a kitchen so you can cook all your food on site, free snorkel gear and the overall vibe is calm & friendly. Highly recommend!! 

Amazing experience and wonderful staff

Lovely eco village tucked away on GKI. Lovely welcome by both Ben and Rach - very personal (thank you). We stayed in a cabin which had ‘everything you need and nothing you don’t’. The communal area included hammocks and a fire-pit where guests and hosts gathered at night to chat. Laid back vibe - perfect spot to explore the island. Close to other facilities if you wanted to grab some lunch or dinner. Personally, I liked the no smoking, low alcohol, guidance - it was a very peaceful and friendly place to be.  I wish we could have stayed for a few more days as we only scratched the surface of the island’s walks and beaches. 

Island Vibe

This is the most beautiful island I think I've ever seen. We relaxed, snorkeled, and fished.  The sun sets are absolutely unbelievable.  Water is very calm and warm enough to get in during winter with a beautiful backdrop of mountains from the mainland. The resort village has a very chill and easy going vibe.  We made some friends and will definitely be back.  This is the type of island that is hard to find back in the States ie low key and not overrun with tourists, enjoy it while you can!  This is our first visit from the USA and can't believe we got to spend time on this precious gem of an island.

Soooo relaxing and stunning

Lovely place to chill and relax - definitely more suited to young people/families - not somewhere for older people or anyone with disabilities. It is looking a little tired and in need of an upgrade - to be expected after the neglect that would have occurred during the Covid outbreaks. Staff were, on the whole, lovely and very friendly - seemed to be mainly foreign backpackers and it's good to see them back in Australia enjoying what we have to offer. Food/drinks - had everything that you needed.

Great Place to Chill

We absolutely loved everything about our stay at GKI Holiday Village!
It is so chilled and a perfect way to relax if in need for some "you time".

There are a few different options for accommodation. We chose Glamping and it was lovely. It's not luxurious or glamorous (the bed was fantastic though!), but basic and real down to earth.
You are surrounded by starry skies, the sound of birds, lizards and other creatures. Not to forget the stunning beaches! Great for snorkeling, hiking or just doing absolutely nothing.

Personally I thought it was a nice touch that after 9:30pm, everybody was expected to be quite. So if you wanted to hang out with old friends or new acquaintances, you'd kindly be asked to go down to the beach (2 minutes away, so no big deal - and fantastic skies!).
In return, the early risers were also expected to be considerate of those who wanted to sleep in. And it worked! Peaceful all around.

The vibe is really just fantastic and we met the most wonderful people from all over the world during our 3 night stay - including the managers, Anthony and Jeppe.
You just couldn't help being happy around them. They couldn't have been kinder, more helpful, friendlier or more present during our stay. I'd go back just for them!
So to sum it up -  Tranquil, peaceful, friendly and beautiful surroundings.
I really can't praise this place high enough. 

A very, very special place

Amazing, amazing, amazing! If crystal waters, Great Barrier Reef snorkeling, back to basic beach happiness is your vibe, you’ll love this place! We are back for our 5th holiday here and it’s become our bi-annual escape with friends and living the dream.
The Holiday Village is really all you need, awesome Glamp tents, kitchen and bathrooms, set behind the dunes amongst the trees. Geoffrey is an amazing host and really looks after you and the Village.

5th time back in 2 years!😍

Well there's not many places you can stay in a self contained cabin on asn island for $220 a night. Dolphin Cottage &great keppel holiday village was awesome, we loved our 5 days here. The cabin itself had 2 bedrooms with a comfy queen bed in each, kitchen had all equipment (note:no microwave or salt and pepper/tea and coffee etc, so bring your own)..we grocery shopped in Rockhampton and brought bags over on the ferry-easy. Don't go expecting fancy, but the cottage is actually better than the pictures.  Geoff and the crew are awesome and the little extras make it great value- bonfire at night, geoff took us out on his boat for some snorkelling, and the island was so quiet. Swam in June in the middle of the day and did lots of hikes. Can grab burgers next door at Tropical vibes and had dinner/brekky/cocktails/coffee next door at Hideaway, but we were so glad we stayed at the Holiday Village.

Dolphin house

Had a great few nights staying in this awesome space <3 from the pick up to the drop off we were in zen. Getting off the boat Leo was waiting for us on the beach with his ute. took us to the village, showed us around and showed us to our tent. Tent was new, and was set up under a roof (so it wasn't in the sun and kept the rain off). the tent had a comfy real bed and two bedside tables, a lamp on each and a large fan. there was an extra blanket. out side our tent we had a covered "deck" with some convenient line up with pegs. also 2 really comfortable chairs and a nice table. everything looked brand new and well looked after. the shared bathrooms were clean and the shared kitchen had everything you needed and even a herb garden <3 can't get enough of this place! thanks guys!

Great spot, leo and geoff are amazing

A last minute decision to do something for my 60th birthday I decided on a trip to GKI and booked 3 nights in a glamping  tent. 
From the moment I was picked up off the ferry I knew it was going to be a great stay.
We were given a quick tour of how things run at the holiday village. 
The communal kitchen had everything one would want. There was heaps of shelving, fridge and freezer space. Fresh drinking water taps were very much appreciated. 
I liked how guests and staff interacted often sharing facilities and areas.
The hikes were rewarding and the stunning beaches beautiful to swim in. 
The 2 accommodation places next to each other work in together for the betterment of their guests which is great to see.
It was very windy on the day of my return and my ferry was cancelled but I was automatically transferred to the bigger ferry. 
I felt very safe as a solo traveller. I’ll be back to do some more hiking and beaches at the other end of the island.
