At the last minute we decided to stay in Launceston. Found the Park Lane Motel online and booked. It's an older property but super clean, reasonably priced and has a great view over the City Park. A short walk to central Launceston and the managers are very helpful. If you're looking for a place in central Launceston then I can recommend the Park Lane.

What a great location! Overlooking city park and within walking distance to everything.
We arrived to a lovely warm welcome and check in was quick and easy.
Our room was cosy, warm and clean. Beds were very comfy and had electric blankets for the cool Launceston evenings. Our room also had a balcony which was a great bonus.
Would highly recommend to any traveller.

Great location, super comfortable and clean!!

Family friendly. Solid and cosy apartments. Very clean, right in the middle of the city. Amazing service. I enjoyed my long stay at the apartments. Amazing Anita is a great manager. Highly recommended.

Comfortable and great location

I enjoyed our stay more than my wife. I tolerated the super soft bed, she did not sleep well at all as result. We are accustomed to a firm mattress at home, this bed in the Parklane can do with renewal. Besides the bed, the room was great. Rare to find a table for 2 & matching 2 chairs. Plates, bowls, cutlery provided. Tea, coffee etc as expected. The room was super quiet. Not a single noise all night. Shower is over the bath and was temperamental. Had a hot shower all the same. Car parks are all steeply inclined. Ensure that you are good at parking on a hill, reverse park strongly advised due to the nature of the exit. Ensure your handbrake is fully functional.

Good location. Good price for Australia. We walked to everything. Nice outlook to city park. comfortable rooms with heater and electric blankets. Very friendly and helpful people. We were able to check in early and leave our car in the car park on last day. Good to have fridge and microwave. It’s an older building and we found the bathroom could have done with some maintenance. All six taps were hard to turn off and dripped a lot. No lift so be prepared to carry suitcases up or down at least some stairs.

Warm welcome from on-site manager...Quick and easy check-in. CLEAN room & COMFY bed. WELL WORTH the extra 20$ for room with balcony...AMAZING views of the city and park and killer sunsets! quick walk to CBD and all the restaurants. 
Overall...COOL 60's motel, no fuss, GREAT VALUE.

GREAT VALUE

While there was nothing seriously wrong with the place, there were many things not right. You would expect a 4 person room to have things like 4 sets of glasses or cutlery, but nope. The car parks were also filled with old junk (lounge suite, fridge etc.) and are a very tight fit, if someone doesn't park perfectly don't expect to get your car in. 

The rooms are very tired and dated. Our room had gaudy pink tiles in the bathroom with a shub rather than a proper shower. We used the laundry once, paid the $2 to use the washing machine which didn't complete its cycle and we returned to find clothes that hadn't been rinsed or spun. 

The many notes around the rooms made the whole place feel unfriendly - I get that extra costs have to be charged in some cases but a simple welcome book like most motels have that outline the rules is far nicer. 

Overall though the rooms were clean and the guests were quiet. If you're just looking for a place to stay this place is OK. It worked for us and I'd stay here again if it was just for a night or two. 

Not awful but know before you go

This motel is clean and functional.  My only comment: do NOT stay at this motel if you ride a motorbike.  It's on such a steep hill it's almost impossible to ride a motorbike up to reception.  Even the carpark is on a slope! 

NOT for motorcyclists

Based on the recent reviews I had low expectations but it was ok from my perspective. The room was tired but generally clean. A really deep clean would make a big improvement. Staff were helpful and friendly. Having a laundry on site was a nice bonus.
