The hotel is run by a family who strive to make your stay as comfortable as possible. We missed our breakfast time (maybe even twice - not sure!) and yet Katharina made sure we had the breakfast and made it seem no problem whatsoever. As well as tailoring it to our liking.
They tried hard to understand and be understood if you speak English (and not German), very friendly and chatty despite the language difference. We even were told a little about the traditional ways their family very happily lives out there.
"Haus Kendlinger" itself is surrounded by wonderfully scenic countryside, complete with the lake, mountain(s) and total tranquility.
The house is a traditional Austrian two-storey one with flowers on timber balconies and the accommodation was basic but spotless. Perhaps having no wi-fi at the time we stayed (July 2013) was a bit of a downside, but in a place like this lake it's no big deal!
There is a bus stop less than 5 minutes walk away from the house, taking you all the way to Salzburg.

We stayed for 6 nights at the Guesthouse "Hous Kendlinger" in Brunn (Abersee).
It is located in a quite neighborhood, easy to find.
The room was big enough, clean, well furnished + a nice balcony.
Mrs. Katarina (as well as her mother in law "The Omi") were very friendly and helpful
The breakfast was good - just as we expected. 
We warmly recommend staying with them.

ENJOYED OUR VISIT

Haus Kendlinger is located about 3-4km away from St. Gilgen, so it's not an ideal location if you plan to spend most of your time in St. Gilgen.  However, it's a good location for exploring the outdoors around lake Wolfgangsee.  It is about 20 min bike ride along the well marked and paved bike paths from St. Gilgen, and about 45 min bike ride to St. Wolfgang.
There is plenty of parking outside.  Our room was clean, very spacious, the bed was comfortable and it was quiet for sleeping.  The bathroom is clean, and there was lots of hot water for showers.  We also had a balcony which was very nice as it looked out to the lake.
In the morning breakfast is served and it's included in the price.  Breakfast consists of boiled eggs, cold cuts, cheese, fresh bread, jams, butter, coffee and tea.  Everything was fresh.
Our hosts were very friendly and spoke good English.

Friendly Owners, Nice Setting

we were looking for a room for a few nights in st gilgen,(for the new year) but due to lack of availability, this house came up on a booking site.  knowing the area, it was easy to find, but for others, it could be a little difficult to locate.  catering seems to be only for a couple of guests and we were well looked after.  if you are looking for a small rustic establishment with pleasant owners, then this is the place for you.  just do not expect a top class business.
