We booked last minute as we were stuck in Blankenberge (train strike!) and they accepted us no problem and were possibly the most friendly management I have come across. We weren't expecting much as it was so cheap, but we actually loved our spontaneous night here!

It was a real local vibe which was nice, comfortable bed, unexpected large power shower in our room and very clean. I think it was a hostel but we had a lockable double room to ourselves. 5 minute walk to the train station, 3 minute walk to the beach/ promenade. 

In the morning we were greeted to a busy little breakfast area in reception and a lovely lady owner who was so happy to hear we had a good rest. If you like simple, homely and affordable stays, I would highly recommend Logies Lucullus :)

Perfect Last Minute Cosy Stay

Where to begin...the hotel Lucullus is a gem of a place tucked away on Rogierlaan a mere 2 minutes from the promenade and Golden sands of Blankenberg. Rooms are spacious and welcoming although I'd recommend putting in  sme effort to keeping them tidy as the hotel owners and regulars set very high standards of tidiness and expect the same from other guests. We were lucky enough not to have our room "inspected" on our latest visit although I understand this is a little quirky tradition that the owners like to maintain to keep guests on their toes. I'd also recommend keeping noise to a minimum after 9pm in order to avoid local fines (payable in Belgian Francs). 
The hotel has a reputation as the most tumultuous romantic hotspot in the region having seen many relationships blossom and fizzle out in equal measure

The local area is blessed with a variety of traditional shops selling everything from fruits de mer to decorative ashtrays although don't expect to find many places offering to exchange Euros or sell mobile phone chargers. The promenade is a highlight with a full-size Velodrome the like of which Sir Chris Hoy can only have dared dream of. Local hospital facilities are also excellent.
The area comes alive at night - ideal for groups to explore the delights of Westestraat and its many amusement arcades. For those of you brave enough there is a fully motorised Top Gun Flight Simulator available in addition to the standard offerings such as Streets of Rage and Daley Thomson Decathlon.
Further afield this hotel offers the perfect base for visits to Meli theme park (now Plopsaland De Panne - would have loved to have been in that meeting!?) - I won't spoil the surprise for the adrenaline junkies but it's pretty extreme!  Bees everywhere.
I should briefly mention our coach company, Clyde Coast (now Ardrossan mini-coaches ltd.), who provided an excellent and informative service.
In Summary - enjoy the experience, watch out for groups of drunken teachers and avoid the local fines. Should you have any concerns whatsoever then please be aware that this region of Belgium is outwith EU jurisdiction and therefore exempt from all legislation pertaining to health and safety.

Fantastic base for an authentic, romantic Belgian holiday

No surprises, except a very positive at the breakfast table in the morning. We had a very cheap rate for 60€/night for a double room, breakfast included. We expected the worst, but it was quite ok if you just look to sleep the night. There was one double bed and two smaller ones to accompany (younger) children. The owners are friendly. The only downside is that the infrastructures are very old and toilet is in the hallways. You do have a personal shower cabine and have to ask for towels, which you receive without hesitation (but people stole those in the past). Anyhow, the breakfast was excellent, my compliments on that one. All by all a very fair rate for what you get. We would return for a last minute cheap night stay. The sea side is 150 metres away.

Wanted to stay for a night in this place and booked a single room. Git the room and guess what? No electric plug, No TV, Just an old bed and a little wardrobe. For a shower I had to go to another floor!!! Never again!
