We were supposed to stay here but plans changed and we stopped and talked to the hotel manager. The hotel manager was very accommodating and let us cancel last minute. Will definitely plan to stay there if passing through Blue River again, looked like a nice place

Friendly staff, will stay again

This hotel is affordable, clean, and comfortable with a nice restaurant for breakfast . 
Our overnight stay was just fine. 
I will stay here again. The stay are friendly and the area is a really nice location. Parking is limited for larger pickup trucks, but we managed.

Passing Through

This hotel was updated and everything was available that we needed. It was quiet and we found everyone to be very pleasant! The I did use that checked us in and out was very nice and made for a great introduction to the property!

A Pleasant Experience

Perfectly suitable place to stay for a night. Drove from Banff to Whistler so just needed somewhere to sleep. Room was basic but great size and warm, thermostat worked beautifully. Large, comfy bed and great shower. Had a microwave, coffee/tea etc hairdryer and ironing board. 
Reception did smell heavily like cigarette smoke but the room did not at all. We got a pizza and fries from the attached restaurant that were great.

Perfectly fine place to stay as a stopover for the night.

We booked this hotel as a stop over from the coast to Edmonton.  On our way, the hotel called to let us know that there was no food options open late.  We appreciated the heads up and stopped in Kamloops for a late dinner.  The front desk also stayed open for us, as we did not arrive until after 11pm.  The beds were very comfortable.  And the room and beds were clean.  We were only there to sleep and were back on the road by 8am the next day.  Would stay here again.

Good enough for a quick stop!

The staff was extremely helpful in retrieving our mobile phone left behind.

There was cigarette smoke smell in the lobby area when we checked in and along the corridor in the evening which seeped into our room. The room was clean and comfortable. I will assume that the cigarette smoke was an anomaly and not a nightly occurrence. 

Room Review

This is a very old motel that is undergoing a big renovation.  The grounds are shabby and there’s cigarette butts all over the broken concrete.     The room was updated with newer furniture and vanity.  The drain smell coming from the bathroom was disgusting.   We were told that the smell would go away after the laundry was done at 6pm … but it didn’t.    Staff came to check our complaint after second call and suggested we keep the plug in the bathtub drain.  We 
 were offered a room change but were assured that if we kept plug in tub that the smell would stop.  Thought we’d try it instead of moving all our things but the plug didn’t hold water and every time it drained the smell came back.    

We decided to stay and sleep but keep the bathroom door closed with fan on.   

The bed was comfy … the food was good at the attached restaurant - great service.   It had a recent makeover and looked and felt good.    They were waiting on a new liquor licence so no drinks available.    

This was a stopover on a big trip and was dissapointed to pay so much for an inferior stay.   Surprised that sandman would put their name on this.     Maybe will be ok when it’s fully renovated.

I wish I had read a previous reviewer's comment -  "dilapidated and dirty" - before staying here.  Never again.  It's a wonder this place hasn't fallen down with the state of disrepair. And for this I had the privilege of paying $187 (incl. tax).

Badly in need of upgrade in rooms, and externally, including walkways.Maintenance performed very poor  and in some cases unsightly, an example is the air conditioning installation.  
The deterioration of this facility is disappointing, especially when the parent company is generally attentive. I would not stay there again.

Deteriorating facility

This place is a dump! I can’t believe they have the sandman name! Avoid avoid avoid! Dirty, old and no amenities- not even the basic ones in the room like the shower or TV worked! 
Many other hotels within an hour that are much better. 1 star as it had a comfortable bed. I checked it for bed bugs before sleeping in it!
