Awesome from the beginning til the end. Phillip and Mireille were very welcoming, smiling and helpful. They are very easygoing with strong knowledges. 

Rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. Same for the bathrooms. The location is perfect, in a quiet and beautiful area, closeby to the National Park. You can see the bears (25$ per person - special rates for family and people who got the guide du routard).

Absolutely fabulous! Mireille and Philippe are two lovely people who manage their gîte with heart and soul, and love to tell about their life there. They are also great in giving good advices, for restaurants, en for visiting the park.

We had the room Shawinigan, a cozy room, completely in wood, comfortable and spacious. In theory we had no private bathroom, but in practice we did, because there was only one other room was occupied (and only our first night). Since there are two bathrooms for four rooms, it seems to pose no problems when all the rooms are occupied.

Philippe is a baker, and you will noticed this at breakfast: every day a different kind of bread, and a piece of cake or a cookie. Together with an egg dish and some fruit this was a really nice and honest breakfast.

At night it is also an oasis of calm: it's so dark that you can count all the stars, and so quiet that you almost hear yourself breathe. A lovely place to relax.

The gîte is located a few kilometers from the entrance to the Parc de la Mauricie, close to some good restaurants (recommended: Boreal and Maison Cadorette).

An oasis of calm

We had booked this b and b as a base for walking in La Mauricie National Park and for that it was ideal.
It was also ideal in all other aspects.  Our hosts were Mireille and Philippe who came to Canada from France over ten years ago.  They were both absolutely charming, very friendly and  most knowledgeable about the area and the things we wanted to do.
After a delicious breakfast we would go off for the day and return to an excellent supper seated around a large table with other guests.  Mireille spoke English perfectly and Philippe tried hard! (and was better than he thought)  Other guests were German and French and we had interesting conversations.
There were 4 bedrooms, all very pretty.  The two shower/toilet rooms were easily accessible and although initially we were slightly anxious about no en suite it was not a problem at all.
So - a great place to be - and very good value also (especially if you opt for supper in the evenings)
