This hotel is located in a resort area a short taxi ride from the bus terminal and definitely a different feel from downtown La Serena. We were looking to stretch out a bit and reserved the king suite with a balcony. The description of the room said it came with a washer but they only had a rather expensive laundry service. The room  was nice clean and comfortable. We couldn’t get the balcony door open at first but when we told the front desk they had maintenance there in minutes to get it open

Nice view across from the beach

This is a medium sized, family oriented and popular seaside resort, a bit out of the center of town, much like those I stayed in on the US east coast. The beach is across the street, very clean and beautiful, but the sea water was very cold and rough enough to have red flags and life guards actively watching any swimmers, so we didn’t go in. Also there were a lot of jellyfish washed up on the beach which they told me are harmless but we didn’t want to test our luck. The hotel has a pool that is heated and family friendly. There were lots of restaurants and shops along the seaside,  people playing games on the beach, in all very festive. It is a good place to stay if you want to see La Serena and go to the Elqui Valley and other areas but I wouldn't recommend going in the ocean or surfing or swimming. 

The guest rooms are in a high rise building back by the pool. The reception, restaurant and service areas are in the front area apart from the guest rooms. It looked like they have some meeting rooms and could cater to weddings. There is a good quality restaurant by the entry to the lobby. We went there for lunch and dinner. It serves good, fresh seafood as well as other dishes. "Locos" are a type of abalone popular in Chile and quite inexpensive. Breakfast is served, buffet style, in a large room by the pool area. It was plentiful spread, with lots of choices - fruit, juices, hot food, cold cuts, breads, dairy, etc. I saw notices for Yoga classes, Bingo and children’s activities so they cater to families. There was a small gym as well. 

We were in room 405 which had a slight view of the ocean front but mostly of the pool area. It was fairly quiet. It had one large bed that filled the room, bedside tables and a small desk built in, no drawers, but a closet area with shelves and only a few hangers. There was a safe that was hard to figure out how to use so ask about that and they can show you how to use it. There is a small refrigerator in the closet area as well. The door to the main bedroom stuck so if you close it, you may find you have to tug or shake it to get it to open. I was glad for the heater since it was cold at night. The bathroom is small, has a shower and a mirror that had a defect and needs to be replaced. The lighting was adequate but not bright. They don’t give you a robe but they did give us plenty of towels. 

The hotel staff was very helpful in arranging tours for us. We were grateful that they intervened for us in a matter of a tour we had booked and paid for that was going to be cancelled. We were able to go to Isla Damas with a different tour company because of their assistance. In fact, I suggest you arrange tours directly though the hotel. You can call in advance. The people we met in Chile were very gracious and genuinely considerate. Those who helped us at this hotel went out of their way to be welcoming.

Casual hotel across from beach

Nice place to stay with large suit room.  I'm a frequent traveller and some "normal item" were missing like a coffee machine or water bottle.  The water is good in the region but for some traveller, this could look like a problem.  This look a perfect place to go with kids since there's a lot to do around with the pool, beach and other activities

Nice hotel

The location of this hotel is superb: right across from the beach in the center of the action.  2 complaints, however: although we waited until the 4:00 pm check-in time to go to our room, it was not cleaned until 5:15 or 5:30.  And even when it was cleaned, the staff did not leave us any towels!
Second: compared to other restaurants in the immediate vicinity, the on-site restaurant is over-priced.  Either that or the bill had some extras added, because it was suspiciously high for two simple lunches.
Positives: great staff, just not enough of them, great location.  Average room.

Understaffed

There's lots of good things about this hotel but based on our room I wouldn't class it as 4 star.  The positives are the pool area, location, staff, excellent bed, really good shower in modern bathroom (rough finishes though to paintwork).  Otherwise the decor and furniture is really basic and the sofa in the side room had a cigarette burn.  I appreciate you can't throw away a sofa for that but they could have re-covered.  The decor was pretty rough in some areas and whilst they do sweep the rooms I'm not sure how often they clean the floor properly.  The patio doors to the balcony had really badly rusted locks and they needed a bit of strength to open (could only open 1 side) and pull across.  We couldn't pull the one door that worked all the way across but enough that we could get onto the balcony.  They may have done some work in other rooms but certainly ours needs a bit of attention.  Definitely a great location and a good view of the sea from the balcony but I'm unlikely to return.  4 star price but not a 4 star room.
