At first the hostel is a bit hard to find. English signage would help a lot but a woman saw me walking down the street looking a bit lost, and asked me if I was looking for Dengba. Come to find out, she’s the proprietor of it! She showed me in (I wouldn’t have found it otherwise) and I found a cool and bustling gem of a place. She spoke English well and was able to get me a taxi/minivan to Tagong as well. I got a private room en suite. The bed was comfy and the shower was clean with really hot water. It’s simple but great! The lobby is a place to meet other travelers and hikers. I really liked it here!

Have visited this hostel several times!
This hostel/inn is reasonably comfortable hostel accommodation in Kangding. Rooms are a reasonable size with attached bathroom (squat toilet under a shower) in the normal Chinese style and TV. Generally clean. Extremely helpful staff who allow us to use their washing machine and internet.. Very friendly & helpful staff. Close to the centre of town! Will return again and again!

Wonderful place to stay if on budget - highly recommended

I arrived in Kangding at 7pm with no where pre-booked to stay. I was approached by a person who lead me to the hostel and I am so glad and thankful for this. It is only 30 yuan / night for a bed in a dorm room (which have 4-6 people depending on the room). First impressions were that it is a really nice and friendly environment. A local family runs the place and one of the girls working there spoke very good English which ended up helping me SO much and really lead the way for the rest of my time in China. The communal room has loads of tables and couches which makes for a good and fun inclusive environment and there is also free Wifi! The rooms themselves are fitted with bunk beds. Basic but all you need and always with clean sheets. The bathroom is always included in the price and has a hot shower!!! So good. and Asian style toilets. I would really really recommend this place. I've loved my stay here. The people have made all the difference.

Very homely and friendly place to stay

I got a private room with shared bath. But in a tiny room there is nothing but a single bed !
On the every side of walls, ugly graffiti like "so and so was here" all over.  I felt like I was in prison. My room was the 3rd floor but a shared  bath was 1st floor. I couldn't take it so I asked to change to the room with private bath.
The new room was also terrible. A lot of graffiti, no toilet paper, no soap, no towel, no amenities, nothing！
I asked to borrow a bath towel but only they have was a small hand towel. I was supposed to stay 2 nights but off course!, I cancelled second day.

Feel like in a prison.

We arrived on a rainy day and were looking forward to enjoying the cosy environment described in previous reviews. Beds in single rooms were filthy with dead bugs in them and dormitory rooms were packed with stuff and people eating instant noodles in bed. TV was heard at full volume until late at night. Writing is scrawled all over the walls, which some people may be into, but personally I think makes the place look a mess. Sitting area was also full of people sleeping on the benches in the morning.

Staff were friendly enough at first but not very helpful, and continuously pushed us to take their own driver on the *very* long one-day circuit around the sights near Kangding. When I explained that we thought that was maybe a bit of a rushed schedule and we would perhaps want to spend more time at some of the locations, they were pretty condescending, rubbished the idea and told there was nothing interesting to see at Xinduqiao and Tagong anyway. We're now in Tagong after stopping for a pleasant walk at both Zheduoshan and Xinduqiao which took us most of the day - I can't imagine how rushed the trip must be to see all the other sights in their circuit.

Would definitely not stay again.
