Good location, very near with the entrance of the old city that is guarded with police. Like someone said 'it's hard to find but once you spot it you can never missed it' We were one of those bewildered travelers arriving in the middle of the night and anxious over the amount of the polices along the dark streets, but a local tailor next door showed us the right way. Once you opened the door you'll find the warmest people inside lol the place to be because most travelers who come to Kashgar stay here. Since tours can get pretty pricey now it's the best place to find someone to join you to split the costs. 

Basic facilities but one thing stand out is the water hose in the toilets >.< it's a luxury in China so I appreciate it very much. I stayed in an 8 bed dorm, 2nd floor, far side. It's not properly locked at night but I don't feel anything unsafe. During my stay there was a blackout once. The staff are multilingual so don't worry too much about communication.

The place to stay in Kashgar

Originally booked a different hostel run by the same people, but when I arrived it had been shut down, so I was ferried over to this one. The courtyard is cool, if occasionally a little messy. There are outlets by the table so you can charge your phone while you’re hanging out. It can get a bit noisy (a bit, ha! - who am I kidding this is China) in the evening, mostly with Chinese guests drinking and chatting, but it seems like the staff do a good job of shutting it down around midnight. Cleanliness is more or less what you would expect for China.

A few things would really improve this place. But because there aren’t a lot of other hostel options in Kashgar, I didn’t get the sense that improvement of any kind is on their radar. 

No lockers - they have a place where you can store valuables behind the desk but everyone hates that. Doors don’t lock either. 

A metal detector inexplicably in the entry way that no one seems to pay attention to (why is it there)?

No towels. When I asked if I could rent one they laughed. Don’t really know what I was expecting to be honest.

Calling the thing I slept on a mattress is an insult to other mattresses. I’ve slept on a lot of terrible beds in my life but this was a joke. It was the thickness of a bath towel (which they don’t have). The good news is that the other beds in the dorms seem to have much better and thicker foam pads. The other people in the dorms said they slept fine. So just make sure you choose a good bed, not the first one you see!

The staff are hot and cold. A few are friendly and speak great English. Some who don’t really speak English are awesome, too. A few others are apparently being paid to lie around the courtyard and look at their phones.

Most importantly, there is a really nice golden retriever, that more than made up for the worst bed I’ve ever slept on. Oh, and hot water! For not having a lot of choices in Kashgar, could be a lot worse.

The best hostel dog

It's a good location, located in the old town. The room are okay, but the dorm room are not close or lock, mean people could come in when ever they want. Toilet are not as clean as well and smell. 
The staff are really helpful and they speak english well.

Good Place in Old Town

We had our worst hostel experience ever. We made a reservation for the 1 nice room they have, but the room was double booked. The room we got instead was very bad (water on the floor, no AC, no direct daylight, no mattress on the bed, no bathroom and just old). They said we would get a refund for the first night. The next day however they wanted to charge us a ridiculous amount for "using" this room.
We never experienced such a bad customer service. The hotel manager only seems to care about the money.

The Taiwanese guy at the reception was nice and understanding, but his boss would not lissen. We left to a different hotel around the corner.

Would give 0 stars if possible...

Horrible and rude

We had a reservation for three nights. When we arrived, our room was double booked. We got a crappy room for the first night (probably worst room we ever stayed). 
The next day the manager wanted to charge us for the really bad room (while they made a mistake of double booking our reservation). The manager didn't care about us at all. He just wanted to charge us. We really felt betrayed by the manager. So any advice, pay a little more and go to a decent place!
