What an amazing find this was.  The price per night was excellent and the cabinas are clean and well appointed and even have hot water.  The owners are very friendly and clean the rooms every day.

We stayed here 4 nights and it is in an excellent position just off Playa Negra.  Breakfast can be purchased down the road and there are plenty of bars and restaurants around.

Coffee is available daily and the pool is really nice.  Even saw sloths on the property.

Amazing Find in Paradise

My girlfriend and I stayed here for 4 nights during our stay in Cahuita. Our room was comfortable, had an own terrace and hammock and was cleaned on a daily basis. The hotel area is well-kept and is located close to the beach (c. 20min walkway to the center), with some restaurants and a mini supermarket nearby. It is run by a lovely young Italian couple which is friendly and supportive.

Lovely place

This is a perfect place to stay! Beautiful spacious and clean bungalow. Good for families, couples, anyone. Alessandra was extremely nice, helpful and available all the time. Not only that she prepared our bungalow and all what we needed and served a great breakfast, but she was also spending extra time with us to give us the info about the area.

Good thing is that there is no need to sleep with AC in this bungalow because there are big windows with the nets. My favorite spot was a big covered deck, part of our bungalow, with the hammock and with the outdoor kitchen. I could have stayed a month there having a relaxing time at my deck, at the pool, surrounded with tropical landscaping. 

Beach is 100m walking as well as 2 restaurants. About 1km walking distance is a National park. About 5 minutes drive is Puerto Vuello fancy village, good for dinning and night life. And Cahuita "downtown" is also good for dinning and walking in the evening. In the area there is also a lot to see including a Bri Bri indigeous village.

I hope that one day I will stay in Nirvana Eco lodge again for longer.

Paradise on Earth!

Rooms are rustic but do have air conditioning, comfortable beds.  The location is very close to the beach an easy walk.  The nearby beach has soft sand, warm water, our kids all surfed.  The host makes a delicious breakfast for a reasonable price, her coffee is delicious.  There is a pleasant clean pool.  Recommend.

I spent 5 nights here and couldn’t be happier. I had a lodge in the front. It was small but comfortable for one. The AC was great and not needed most of the time. 

The bed was a bit soft and lumpy and the shower only had cold water. But I’m not super fussed about that, especially in the heat. 

All lodges have hammocks you can chill out on and plenty of wildlife right at your doorstep. Parking is easy and there’s a pool as well. Coffee and tea is always available! 

The breakfast is delicious and cheap! The cable is decent (once I figured out how to change the language from Spanish to English)! Mosquito nets and a super quiet, nature filled environment made for excellent sleeps! 

The owners are super nice! When I cut my hand, they offered alcohol and even boiled some salt water for me. 

The biggest thing for me though was the privacy. You didn’t have people walking past your lodge and you could come and go without having to go past other people. After staying in so many hotels, it was nice to be able to sit and have dinner outside without people staring! 

Would happily stay here again! 

Private and relaxing! 

I really looked forward to my trip to Cahuita together with friends that I seldom have the chance to spend time with since we live so far apart.

Upon arrival we were very satisfied with the place. The cabins and rooms are located in a beautiful garden with lots of trees and bushes. Almost like a paradise on earth. We had a cabin and one twin room, both very nice. Very practical with the outdoor kitchen we had on the terrace outside our cabin. The basic had the basic kitchen equipment and a fridge.

Both the cabin and twin room was clean when we arrived. It was amazing to wake up in the morning just hearing the sounds of the birds and animals with no traffic noise at all.
Our cabin and room was cleaned the next day, but that turned out to be due to lack of information/ misunderstanding as we didn´t know that we had to leave the key in the reception in order to have the room cleaned, but was not an issue for us.

The swimming pool and the area around were very nice and relaxing. 

They don´t serve breakfast as a buffet which is common many places. Instead they bring you a plate with your breakfast. I was very satisfied with my breakfast as they gave me homemade gluten free breakfast every morning which is very unusual especially since I didn´t ask for gluten free breakfast in advance.

Overall, this place itself is an amazing and tranquil place to stay in Cahuita.

They only accept cash as payment, something I personally find annoying, but accepted to do since it seemed to be such a nice place to stay. But it took me two days and two cards to be able to withdraw enough cash from the ATM to be able to pay for our stay due to the low per day limit you are allowed to withdraw. Paying so much in extra in fees just to pay for our stay made me a bit frustrated and I told them when I paid, that maybe it´s time to accept card payments since there is no reason not too. The banks in Costa Rica offer the services, so that´s not a reason for not accepting card payments. It seemed liked they disliked my wish for them to consider accepting cards.

Prior to our arrival we asked to keep our cabin and room a couple of hours longer and they accepted that as long as they didn´t receive a booking later on and would need the rooms immediately. Our last day, we were suddenly kicked out of our cabin and rooms and when I told them that we had asked to stay a bit longer, it seemed like no one were aware of that they had accepted that and they could not find my request in their system either which made me a bit frustrated. But the girl who came to ask us to leave the cabin and room did not speak English well, so there was a bit of language misunderstandings there, but not a big deal for me. I was more or less ready to leave the cabin anyway. However since this is a small place, I think that they could have informed us the evening before or at breakfast time that they had received new bookings and would need the rooms at the normal check out time. That´s something I consider as good customer service, instead of coming the very last minute. I would not have been a problem at all for us to leave the rooms at the usual check out time if we had been told so a bit in advance.
What really made me feel angry is that landlord showed up for no reason when the situation was settled with one of the other staff members already. The landlord was so aggressive and attacked my friends who were my guest and had nothing to do with the booking, payment and the request to keep our rooms a bit longer. They informed him that they had nothing to do with it and they were my guests, but he kept on attacking them over and over again. I have never experienced anything like this before. My friend wanted to translate some of what he said to English for me, but that made him even more furious. I could understand everything he said anyways. If I had not been so angry and shocked, I would have demanded to have my money back. But we could only think about leaving the place as soon as possible.
