Firstly this hostel is in the perfect location. When not staying here i rented my board from here, so i could just grab it, cross the street and hit the beach. ideal! the hostel itself is very nice, a good size, with the whole patio and kitchen being the common area, so in non covid times, ideal for meeting people. the rooms and beds were clean and comfortable, with a mini kitchen in each dorm. Possible only down side was one en suite per dorm, and no other bathrooms. also the staff were really friendly and helpful. id happily stay here again/rent from them.

Lovely little hostel and perfect location.

Really friendly, located right across  from the beach.  It's social without being an overwhelming party hostel.   The refrigerators are en suite so you only share with a few other people and there's a market just down the street.  I took a 3 day surf package and couldn't e happier.

Great spot great people

Good selection of boards, helpful lady. I hired for 24 hours but was hurt on the rocks and returned it early and was charged the $11 rate rather than the $17 rate. Really decent of her and a sign of a good place

Great place to hire a board from

This was right in the middle of the town and across the street from the beach, unbeatable location. I loved they had some local deals and connections with Cafes, Bars, and more for discounts to key hot spots. At the hostel, there were some great people from around the world that all used the common area to hang out, cook, and chill.

Great spot if you're looking for a cheaper hostel, ability to get some local lessons or go with the other guests. Nothing fancy, basic lockers for your luggage but great vibe and atmosphere that attracts great travelers.

Central Hostel Location

Overall a great stay, the location is tough to beat as it is a short walk down the street and across it to the beach for surfing. I was able to choose from several different boards during my stay as I progressed with surfing. If there is an opportunity to include a Fish board in the rental lineup, that would be a bonus.

I appreciated that the rooms and kitchen were cleaned every day, and the staff was very friendly and responsive. I met quite a few like-minded travelers, many who were also excited about surfing, which helped us bond easily.

Unbeatable location

this is an excellent hostel!! carlos was an amazing surf instructor and clearly loved his job, he was patient and funny and helpful. andres was another awesome employee, he always went out of his way to help us and ensure we had a good time. he gave the best recommendations and we could not thank him enough. the hostel itself was super cheap, clean, and had a relaxed open vibe. we also could not have asked for a better location, a 1 minute walk to the beach and all shops, bars, and restaurants are no more than a ten minute walk away. there was also a security guard there all night, a nice added safety bonus (although we never felt unsafe in the first place! but added peace of mind!) filled with friendly people and a great bang for your buck! will definitely return!

excellent hostel

Blue Trails was amazing and everything I could've asked for. The hostel itself was super awesome and a chill vibe to relax when not surfing. The staff, especially Andres, really made you feel at home and the surf instructions from Carlos were a ton of fun and incredibly helpful. Can't wait to come back

Best Hostel in Tamarindo

The vibe, the cleanliness, the accommodation, the location, the staff... everything was perfect! Andres is the best, always up to something!! Steven is an excellent surf teacher!! I totally recommend to stay there, and I’ll definitely book there if I return to Tamarindo!

Perfect!!

The hostel is small and very nice. Dorms are big enough, clean and with ensuite bathroom and shower. The common area is very nice!
Located in the heart of Tamarind and just 2 minutes from the beach. Highly recommended!

Very nice stay!

Rooms were great. Private rooms have two double beds and two bunk beds. Plenty of sleeping space for a group. The common area is great. Hammocks, couches perfect place relax and get out of the sun for a moment.

I recommend going else where for lessons though. Our teacher Stephen was unpleasant, and provided no instruction after the first 5 minutes. Multiple times took my surf board to ride some of his own waves for a while. When I was taken out by a big wave he just ignored me it took another surf instructor near by (from a different surf school) to check on me and help me get out of the waves. I try and leave positive reviews for places but I cannot for this place after my experience.
