While the rooms are good, as the rooms are in separate buildings and there is no common area, it can be hard to meet other travellers. The hostel does offer activities you can take part in such as pub crawls & tours and the staff are very helpful at showing you where things are within Split. The bathroom and kitchen facilities were always very clean. Each room has a tv which is nice. My only issue would be that I had been told by the staff that an airport pick up had been arranged but when I arrived this was not the case and I had to make my own way to the hostel.

Nice apartment

The Pros:  Only 5-minute walk to the promenade, smooth check-in and kind front-desk person; Macbook for each room, digital TV screen, and clean-ish room/bathroom (we had our own private bathroom.

The Cons: The major con was the noise from the slamming doors. I'm not talking about the front door of the building, which makes a low-toned thudding noise when it shuts (bearable), but the 2 bathroom doors next to our room with private bath, at the end of the hall. Occasionally we'd hear a loud slam of a door, and it was so loud it had the same effect as a firecracker going-off (minor exaggeration, but definitely sleep-disrupting). We checked to find out where the slamming was occurring, and discovered that it was not the other guests' fault--they were just trying to shut the bathroom doors completely! Those doors are in major need of either oil or to be replaced. Other not-so-great things include shriveled-up, small bath towels, and a  cramped-looking kitchen area (we didn't even enter!).

So-so room, noisy stay

We stayed here for 5 nights (Art Rooms in CroParadise Blue). At first when we arrived there wasn't really any clear indication as to where you need to go to check in (first floor of CroParadise Blue Hostel). We were then shown to our apartment (we didn't really want the dorm option). The room we had was nice enough and they left towels at the edge of the bed. We stayed towards the end of September so the thin quilts that they supplied weren't enough to keep us warm at night but I would imagine in the hotter parts of the summer you probably wouldn't need anything but a thin sheet, with the AC on. 

Ok so all seemed relatively fine until we got to the kitchen! All we had to cook with were 2 electric hobs; one was of normal size and the other was so small you could barley fit two pans next to each other to cook safely. There was no microwave (why?!) and no oven (although I would imagine this was due to the time it takes to clean it so I can understand why not... well sort of). There was also a very limited assortment of cooking utensils; no spatula, wooden stirring spoons or decent chopping knives (oh and the chopping board was tiny!). Basically if you are planning to stay here with an idea to cook to save yourself some money, unless you are cooking pasta or noddles every night, then don't bother. 

I would also like to mention that in the usual Croatian fashion the immersion heater needs to be on all the time but there was no real indication as to which switch that was so a lot of people were switching it off because it was right next to the light switch and they were probably flicking it every time they wanted to turn the light on without realising they were turning the immersion off, so most mornings the water was freezing. 

In summary a clean and basic apartment, ideal if you are looking to save money in expensive Croatia but don't count on the cooking facilities.

Ok apartments but forget the cooking!

DO NOT BOOK A ROOM IN THIS HOSTEL. An absolutely disastrous experience! The price might be accessible, but cheap price does not have to mean cheap treatment.  I first arrived before I could go to my room (before the check-in time) and went to confirm my booking and pay everything I had to pay in advance. I had specifically asked for a private en-suite room, which had been confirmed when I went there. Later, when I arrived tired and prepared to go and rest to my room, I was told that my room was given to other people that arrived afterwards. There was clearly an organisational problem there, but what shocked me the most was that the lady that was trying to kindly solve that unsolvable situation called the hostel manager who had a horrible attitude. The manager asked to talk to me on the phone and SHOUTED at me, saying that it was not their fault. When I tried to explain him my discontentment he told me to SHUT UP AND WAIT, as he was to finish talking first and then I could talk. It was absolutely shocking and appalling the fact that the person that should be granting the well-being of every guest was driven by rudeness and an enormous yet fragile ego. Needless to say, but the situation could not be fixed and I had to go, on that evening, to another room which wasn't a private en-suite room as I had asked and payed for. I am disgusted by such treatment and I suggest to anyone that values his/her personal dignity not to go there nor to finance such an ill-prepared accommodation.

The manager SHOUTED at me and told me to SHUT UP!

I’ll take great pleasure in leaving my second 1* review. Booked the hostel and couldn’t find the reception before being met with rude customers. Proceeded to be pointed in the right direction before failing to ever enter the actual premises as their buzzer didn’t work to enter the hostel. Had a thoroughly nice chat for 10 days discussing the fact that we had never been there even though they check their cameras. I can only assume their hostel cameras were about as useful as their buzzer and failed to work. Still managed to charge us full price and not even offer a discount even though we never even managed to enter the building. Almost quite glad we didn’t get in as the customers were well and truly smashed at 10am when we arrived. Stay here if you possess Spider-Man like skills to climb the few stories in to reception. Joke of a hostel.
