Our family with 2 small kids (girls aged 3 and 6 yrs) had a truly wonderful time in Susak. The owner is such a nice lady, our whole communication with her prior and during our stay was extremely professional. 

We stayed in a house called Dinka, it was spotless with everything one needs. We really loved the location in the upper village as well as the small patio right in front of the house, where we ate most of our breakfasts. 

What we valued the most was the fact that there are no cars on the island and very few tourists, keeping the place quiet and safe for kids. Also, the water is very shallow at both the City and the Bok Bay beaches which is also perfect for families with small children. The Bok Bay beach in particular is extremely beautiful and worth the extra walk (approx. 25 mins. from the house). 

I definitely recommend visiting the local bakery (only 4 mins. walk from the house).

Lovely holiday with kids

Can not speak highly enough of this small hotel on the island of Susak. Maja,Nenad and Mateja made us feel very welcome and then spoilt us with the most beautiful food.Locally sourced and cooked to perfection.Fantastic hospitality and accommodation to match.

This island is all of sand. The population is approx 100. Most of them live up in the village, around the church. It is possible tp accomodate either there or downhill close to the beach. The atmosphere is very cool. The place should be visited, patricularly by sailors!

Unique Croatian Island

A word about the hosts: They have professional management and reasonably automated booking procedures. Everything works smooth and no obstacles are created. The personal communication was excellent, we felt taken care of very well at any time – not too much but at all times responsive, informative, reliable; in one word: perfect! The owner even personally called us a day ahead to check whether we were all set on how to get there. Fluent English, the owner is even fluent in German.
Now the island itself: Susak is a wonderful place to enjoy quiet holidays, especially with children. The main (sandy and shallow) beach is very suitable for children and the pathways and other beaches (rocky coves and some sandy patches) on the island are great for small discoveries. Make sure to go and speak to the lighthouse guard and enjoy the view from the lantern. The island is absolutely gorgeous, green with bamboo-like tall grass, sandy grounds and with lots of lizzards and geckos for the kids to watch and chase.
The general climate and particular weather at the end of August were just perfect.
The Island is easily accessible by catamaran ferry from Riejka. 
If you want to go to nearby and more lively Mali Losinj, you can hitch a ride with the many tourist day-trippers and come back on the local ferry ship. Watch for the regular schedules and keep them in mind. When our personal schedule did not fit the regular tourist boats' and ferries' timetable, we managed to hire a lokal boat owner to take us to Mali Losinj (about 40mins ride) in time to catch a flight to Istria with ECA (highly recommended if you like to go to Istria or down south). 
The house was orderly and neat with enough space, comfort and operationality, we found all information we needed on practical matters. The kitchen is sufficiently equipped and there is a gas grill in the private garden (50 meters from the house in case you stay at 622 Tonuca).
Restaurants and shops have a reasonable selection, we definitely did not miss anything during 1 week and would assume to miss nothing in 2-3 weeks either. The bakery is excellent, be sure to try their bureks!
People are very kind and helpful, which goes for both, the Croatian locals as well as the many Austrians and other foreigners owning/using holiday homes there.

Wonderful holidays!

We very much enjoyed our stay on Susak- it "feels" very different to most tourist destinations - the house is embedded in the upper village, nicely designed and spacious for a family. The particular house shares 2 terraces with a "mirrored" flat, so it is ideal when you travel with friends & kids. The location in the upper village is a good starting point when going to the beautiful bok bay or any other hike, but also it is close to probably the best restaurant in the village,"Konoba Barbara".

Susak - a different holiday

We loved the silence, untouched nature, crystal clear sea, very nice and friendly local people. We've also enjoyed the food in the nearby restaurant. The house is very nice and modern but it still keeps all the local architecture features. Susak is the best destination if you want to have a peaceful holidays with lots and lots of adventures. 

Relaxing holidays

It's a perfect destination to switch off your mind and enjoy your holiday. It's a small & sandy island full of nice beaches and a great destination if you do not want to be bothered by many people and just want to relax. 

The apartment is nice and clean, plus the host is great! You have everything you need to cook a nice homemade meal. However, house 622 is a twin house, where you share a garden and terrace, which doesn't allow full privacy. 

Pro tip: bring your own basic groceries to the island.

Perfect remote holiday

Susak is far from main tourist roads and big crowds. Small island is without a car and your holiday will be limited to walking from port to an apartment ant to the beach.  No big shopping centre, just some local inns, no promenade. You will find one shop and a half, one bakery in the lower village, post office and sandy beaches. All on walking distance. Local wine is not special, food is average but peaceful evening, enough place on the beach these are great advantages.  Life is just as it was 20 years ago.
