This is a great little hotel on a very quiet street in the middle of Nordby - fantastic location! 

The new owners have fixed it up nicely; the place feels fresh and new. We really liked the decor and the friendliness of everyone  who works there. The beds were comfortable and we slept great!

We were traveling with our daughters and reserved two rooms, which were right next to each other. It is a very small hotel with loys of nice details, including locally made soap, shampoo, and even toothpaste and umbrellas in the rooms. 

Breakfast was great: freshly baked rolls, fresh fruit, pancakes, waffles, and a very nice ice cream. During our stay, we also visited casa tua's ice cream shop, where hotel guests get a discount :-)  

Cozy hotel with great breakfast

I recently traveled to Nordby with my mother and daughter.  It was a very special trip to Denmark with the goal of my mom introducing my daughter to Denmark and specifically Samso.  Her mother (my grandmother) had lived on a farm there as a young girl. 

My mom gets around very poorly.  She does not require a wheelchair, but walks very slowly and stairs are a challenge.  The apartment at Hotel Svedskegyden seemed like a good solution when I booked it online.  

When we arrived at the hotel, I explained to Erik that we were looking for the farm.  He asked around to multiple people, but we didn't get anywhere.  The next morning we showed up to breakfast (fantastic, by the way) only to find Erik had arranged for a local historian to meet us there.  By the end of breakfast, not only did we know the location of the farm, but more history on our family that we had been able to find out for decades (the farm had been in our family from 1664 until it was sold in 1923).  He also arranged for us to tour the farm with the current owner.  To say Erik went the extra mile is putting it mildly.

The hotel is in a wonderful location.  And we loved the apartment.  We had to leave after 2 days, but will stay longer next time.  I HIGHLY recommend this hotel.

Why you should stay at Hotel Svedskegyden

Very calm and relaxed stay in a very small but interesting town on the Danish isle of Samsoe. This Hotel reminds a bit of a bed&breakfast compared to bigger cities, but this hotel has almost everything yo needs: Great breakfast with newly baked bread, optional egg and lots of info and service about your stay and info about the surroundings on the isle. Great service and very recommendable, even if you otherwise want to explore the island itself on you own.

Very calm and releaxed stay

I arrived at the bus stop in Nordby, and was met by a friendly man, who turned out to be the host of Hotel Svedskegyden, Erik. After installing me in my tiny, but comfortable and spotlessly clean room, he took me with him, when he needed to buy groceries. Thus I saw the local cheese producer and had an interesting chat about life on Samsø. 
I stayed 3 nights, and truly enjoyed it. Every morning a lovely breakfast was served. This included local products such as jam, cheese and...walnut schnapps!
The only backdraw was a slight whiff of cigarette smoke that still clung to the furniture in the breakfast room. 
I can only recommend this small hotel on Samsø.

Cosy and hospitable hotel in Nordby

The hotel is run by a very friendly elderly man but it seems like he has problems keeping it up. In our room we had spider webs and the fruit at the breakfast buffet was old with small fruit flies flying above. And the building also has seen better times.The price surely does not reflect the standard - sorry to say. But the location is fine - 50 m from the small waterhole and the real nice old houses in Nordby.
