Great location with a great view, practically in the skirt of a mountain behind it. Close to the town center. The balcony of the room shows an splendid sight of the town, the field crops, the mountain range and the clouds just gliding at low altitude. 

Excellent place to relax. 

I was amazed by the beautiful view, nice environment, good food and they treated us like family already planning for next year, love the view and climate. thanks for everything altocerro see you next year.

A piece of heaven

We want to thank the Altocerro Staff for such a nice stay for our week.  The accommodations were very nice, the food was excellent, and the hospitality of the staff was GREAT!  They accommodated our group in so many different ways.  We may never cross paths again....but if anyone is looking to stay here if you are in Constanza..this is the place to be.  Thank you to everyone at Altocerro-Constanza!  

Group of 28--Stay for a Week

We found a lot to like about this place.  It was pleasant to sit and have a drink on our balcony in the cool mountain air. The room was clean and comfortable, and we had a good meal in the restaurant. The included breakfast was more than adequate. We had no complaints.

Comfortable quarters within a lovely property

Unfortunately we couldn’t get in at the weekend when it was fully booked. We had two week days and were one of only two sets of guests. This definitely affected the atmosphere, and I think the quality and choices at breakfast which seemed a bit reduced. Our room was small but comfortable with a tiny balcony and fabulous views. Hot water was a bit intermittent and the TV didn’t work at first. Plenty of drinking water supplied. Oddly, they put the only other guests (a party of three adults) in the room right next to us which was uncomfortable for us both as the walls are thin. Fortunately we were all quiet! Not so the valley on the first night (a Monday) when an extremely loud party go going between midnight and 03.00. Otherwise only farm machinery to be heard. However, although we were a little lonely in the restaurant we did have very good service and excellent food.

Pluses and minuses

We came for an evening meal and were disappointed. The atmosphere was flat and even though you've a great view over the valley, it counts for little in the evening. OK, so that's not their fault. But displaying honest prices is. Why exclude an obligatory tax from the cost of food? Our expected bill of 1500 pesos ballooned to 2000 once 'taxes' and 'service' were added. The food was OK, but nothing especial. In all, a rather dull and expensive experience.

The more you pay ...

I would have rated this one notch up except for the price change issue below. If you make it here on your own you will really be at the end of the road in the DR. 

Hotel has a splendid view over the valley from little private balcony, we chose the suite with a fireplace.
(Did not use the fireplace, would have had to order firewood, did not seem worth the hassle.)
Suite had half sized fridge and gas cooktop, plenty of pots, dishes and utensils.
Manager who spoke English was only there first evening.
He spoke with us for some time while we ordered dinner. Found us a book of local activities translated into English.
Expansive grounds and landscaping including animal pen 

Set up for large events like conventions and weddings
We were the only guests for mid week in February
It appears most Dominicans come here for weekends or summer vacations
Very few non Dominicans
Food was good but not gourmet
TV has a few English channels if you want a diversion
Very good Wifi

Suite was cold  when we first came in but warmed up with doors open. Cottages are made entirely of concrete which stays cool. 
Bed is a platform bed, quite firm
Only above manager spoke English
We got phone call from front desk at midnight when we were sound asleep. Had no idea what he was saying. 
Book showing local attractions in English could not be found after first evening
Gave us a hotel instruction booklet with 38 rules, written in Spanish
Changed rate on remaining two days when we cancelled last night within the free cancellation period, from $90 to $120. English speaking manager was not available to discuss this. 
Roosters get up at zero dark thirty. 
Car alarm went off each morning at 5:30 for some odd reason.
