This is a real hidden gem, and one of the best budget places to stay in Misahuali if you want a pool - which is very much advised!  The lodge is just over a small tributary from Misahuali - crossing takes one minute by boat.  The lodge is quirky and a bit lived in, but the rooms are fun, the pool is great, the food is good and the staff are friendly.  Also, the lodge organises jungle trips and boat tours for around market price - which is very useful.  Their in-house guide, Max, is excellent.  It is easy to get into town by boat, and it is only a 45 minute boat trip up the Napo to some excellent wildlife sanctuaries etc.

Do not hire those services. They charged $ 80 to four people when another large family of five were charged $ 35 for the same. It is a pity that we have to take very bad memories of such a "beautiful" place. The hired tour is very poor. Feeling of total deception.

Very bad experience with this agency

We stayed in this hotel/lodge back in October and my family and I were very impressed. 
After driving from Quito to the rain forest, we needed a place to rest, wind down and enjoy the surroundings and M.A.L fit our needs. The view from the hotel is breathtaking. The rooms are comfortable and clean with all the amenities needed for a relaxing stay. We were mostly impressed with the pool and how well kept it was. However, the best part of our experience was PACO the parrot.  Upon our arrival he intrusively welcomed us and after some hesitation from our part he followed us everywhere we went. It was like he knew he was the star of the show and we were so amazed by every little thing he did, sometimes territorial other times submissive,
he was even at my door step the next morning when I woke up. I've never experienced anything like that before and until now we talk about him.
Going back to the hotel,  we didn't request for a room with AC because we wanted to forget the comforts of modern living.  All we had to do was open the windows and the river breeze was enough to make our night pleasant. I had a great night sleep complemented by a hearty breakfast that was included with your fare. Fresh fruit, bread and our host PACO hanging out right next to us.
Overall it was a great experience. Thanks PACO and all the staff at M.A.L

Better than expected !!!!!

Our stay at this lodge was relaxing. The manager, Blaca, was very attentive and helpful. There are air conditioning rooms, you just need to ask. The huts don't have air conditioning but are beautifully decorated inside and out. Ask for a room near the river to get some breeze at night. The food was delicious and none of our family got sick which I hear is common in other places. The tours they provided were fun and we got to do a lot in one day. We even went to the near beach where the monkeys are. The tour guide lured the monkeys over to hang out with us.

Beutiful Amazon Lodge

Our family had a great time at Misahualli Amazon Lodge.  There was no A/C, but the cross-breeze and ceiling fan gave us all the perfect temperature.  Our breakfast was fabulous every morning.  We met Paco our first morning - the pet macaw of the lodge.  Our boys enjoyed feeding him fruit and he seemed to become quite attached to our family - following us around for 3 days.  :-)  The only reason for not giving 5 stars - the spa was emptied out, the upstairs area was Paco's realm and the cost was higher than seemed appropriate for the property.

American family on a 10-day trip to Ecuador

THE Hotel DESCRIPTION SAID IT HAS AIR CONDITIONING BUT IT DID NOT!!!  It was MISERABLY HOT!!!!!!!   The pool was somewhat small and cloudy. The used to be kid pool has a dead dried up frog in it.    Our shower had a crack in the floor  AND I KEEP GETTING MY FOOT CAUGHT IN IT.  the breakfast was very good.  The poolFURNITURE  WAS VERY UNCOMFORTABLE......

NO CONDITIONING!!!!!!!!

The lodge and surrounding grounds are gorgeous!  The rustic cabanas are very comfortable.  The nearby activities include a river tour, a tour of a local indigenous community, inner tubing down the river, hiking to a waterfall, and simply hanging out by the pool.  The only negative about this place is that the service for the food was slow and our waiters brought the wrong dishes.  Other than that, this was an excellent way to enjoy the jungle!
