Very attractive black and white building typical of Normandie. We used it as a base for birdwatching in the area, literally five minutes from the Pont de Normandie and about ten minutes from Honfleur. We stayed in one of the chalet style rooms where we could park the car right outside and make use of the table and chairs to eat supper when returning late at night. The breakfast room and restaurant looked very attractive but we left around 6am each morning so didn't have chance to eat there. The room was comfortable with some interesting wooden furniture.

Good base for visiting the area

We stayed here on our return from the Charante Maritime.We were travelling with elderly parents and wanted them to experience something typically French.We loved the outside of the building from the photos we had seen on- line.We were not disappointed - the relais is full of character ,attractive from the outside with tasteful decoration and finishing touches on the inside.We had rooms on the ground floor and were extremely pleased to be able to park right outside the room.
Our only disappointment here was that the restaurant was closed (Saturday night) and we had to travel a short distance further onto Honfleur to eat.Although we had a lovely meal there it would have been nice just to sit in the hotel bar for a drink and relax afterwards especially as we had travelled a long distance during the day.
After a restful nights sleep in a comfortable bed we had a lovely buffet breakfast served in the beautiful beamed restaurant.
We really enjoyed our brief visit here and would not hesitate to return - hopefully on a week day so we can sample the food in the restaurant!

"A Great Find Would Love To Return"

Searching for a hotel to spend the night in on a short bargain break ferry crossing with Brittany Ferries from Portsmouth to Le Havre, I came across this place. I was immediately attracted by its charming character and individuality. The bedrooms are all decorated differently, all with tasteful decor and furnishings, nice and clean, with en-suite showers. The beds in our two rooms were comfortable and a pleasant night's stay was had by all.

We dined at the hotel in the lovely beamed restaurant, which had a great ambiance. The place is run by a friendly and obliging couple, she acting as the waitress and he doing the cooking. The food is nothing pretentious, just simple local styled dishes featuring the local fresh ingredients. The cost is reasonable and the food good. The breakfast was also pretty decent.

The earlier review by Amanda sums up the place nicely. It is a very pleasant alternative to the formulaic and characterless chain hotels and would suit those who don't wish to spend much, but who have more individual tastes. It offers a comfortable escape from the big city to those who land at Le Havre (only 15 minutes away) before an onward journey, but who wish to stay in the countryside before journeying on. Otherwise, it is conveniently only a 10 minute drive to Honfleur and close enough as a base to other charming Normandy destinations.

Charming and atmospheric

My husband, son and myself enjoyed a break here from 30th March to 3rd April 2013.  On arrival we discovered that the hotel had come under new management within the last 2 weeks or so.  

Our hosts were extremely friendly on reception and for the entirety of our stay.  We were shown to one of the upstairs rooms (access gained from outside).  We had booked a 'suite' expecting an area or another room with a sofa and/or chairs but it turned out to be another room with extra beds.  Not a problem though as the beds were extremely comfortable and if we did want to watch any TV (entirely French stations) they would have sufficed.

The rooms were extremely clean and the shower room, although small, was adequate and supplied with plenty of towels and face cloths.  

We enjoyed a plentiful breakfast in the restaurant each morning - choices included croissants, pains aux chocolat, toast, brioche, meats, cheeses, yoghurts, juices and more besides.  Coffee or tea was bought to our table on our arrival so was hot and fresh.

We booked an evening dinner table on our first and last nights.  The menu and specials board is listed entirely in French so some rather interesting dialogue took place between ourselves and our hosts in an attempt to understand what was on offer (our French is somewhat rusty and our hosts didn't speak any English)!  We enjoyed some traditional Normandy dishes accompanied by wine from a good wine list. 

As can be seen from the professional photos, the hotel is extremely picturesque with the main part of the building being converted from an old Wine Press which is a main feature of the interior.  There is plenty of space for parking and the hotel itself is very easy to find once you've come away from the Pont de Normandie.  It is just a short car journey to Honfleur (one of the most picturesque ports in France) and easy to pick up the many high quality roads to other major destinations, such as Rouen, Caen, Giverny, Bayeux, etc.

If you are looking for a faceless, uniform, sterile hotel, then this is not the hotel for you; if you are looking to stay somewhere with charm, personality and attentive, friendly hosts, then this IS the place for you!  I would suggest that you practice a little conversational French prior to staying here (I would have done this myself but the break was booked as a surprise and I did not have the opportunity to do so).  

In short, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would not hesitate to either recommend it others or stay here again ourselves!

Charming and clean with that personal touch

We had never been in the area before and while within 3 miles of Honfleur, (which we did not know at the we booked it)this lodge type building is bleak and old.  The best part of it is the quaint restaurant ..for breakfast  with an attached old set of bare bones rooms.  The owners do not speak any English at all and they use Google translate for anything out of the ordinary.  Basically, its  country style place Motel 6. For 85 euros, its overpriced at that.  We stayed there as it had ample, free parking...we were told parking would be difficult in Honfleur..not the case at all.  The photo of the lodging area/place is deceiving as well..Its run down and needs a total redo.  

I would stay in Honfleur, park the car and enjoy this quaint little village.
