L’Oustal is easy to find via Satnav and parking is very good. You have to access the hotel and parking via closed electric gates, so just park up across the road and use the intercom.

Check in was very welcoming and efficient. The house is a lovely old mansion with the aforementioned gated entry for the car and quirky sculptures in the gardens. The owner is a charming lady and our room (Liane de Pougy) is large, comfortable, decorated in appropriate period style and has a lovely balcony overlooking the front lawn. The en-suite also feels delightfully period with huge double sinks, big fat radiators and a shower cabinet with an old fashioned latch.

Downstairs there’s a little residents’ lounge with facilities for making tea, coffee, cold drinks etc. and there are even wee trays so that you can carry your beverages out to the garden or up to your room.

Breakfast is served in a lovely dining room with most guests seated at the main table. It was typical continental fare with orange juice, fresh fruit salad, yogurts and a nice selection of cheeses, cold meats, jams, bread and cake.

This is one of those places that you feel fortunate to discover. It has been a lovely place to stay for a couple of days and we look forward to a return visit.

A wonderful place to stay.

Lovely big family room in beautiful house. Quirky garden with secure parking. The host was wonderful and we were welcome to drinks and snacks on the terrace whenever we wanted. Lovely breakfast. We had a nice meal in Bourges and enjoyed the trail in the dark seeing the historic buildings lit up. My children aged 14 and 11 just loved it.

Perfect overnight stay when travelling across France

Completely charming venue.  Rooms with care, cleanliness and great style.  Delicious breakfast with some home made treats esp the jams.  Very friendly owner.   Wish we had booked longer on our way to Beziers.

Stop over Bourges

Had an amazing stay, the hosts are really nice and thoughtful, the place is clean and tidy, really feels like a jump in the past. The breakfast is amazing as well, feels like a breakfast you'd share with your family.

A jump in the past with a touch of modernity

Amazing place ! It was my first trip to Bourges for a business meeting . The house atmosphere is warm very welcoming host Magalie with who I had a great talk . I brought my mum for the trip and she was very about the place and felt very well welcome . 
The house has character and you feel home . Nice living room where you can chill and read a book or do some work . 
I won’t hesitate to go back there if I have to travel again in the region .

Absolutely fantastic

We stayed in this B&B some years ago, as it handily placed on the way back to England from the Laguedoc. It has changed hands recently, and the new owner is very welcoming and helpful. She booked a table for us in a good restaurant in advance of our arrival. 
There is a little residents' lounge with tea and coffee-making facilities and flavorings for cold drinks and some nice little biscuits. Breakfast was very good - offering a range of hot and cold food. The house is spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Magalie has made some changes, such as providing an outside terrace area for guests to eat in the warm weather. She is keen to hear suggestions for improvements. We wish her every success.

A warm welcome

We stayed here last year on an overnight stop and were delighted to book it again this year. When we arrived we were surprised to discover that the ownership had changed from Sophie but no matter the welcome was just as friendly, the rooms just as clean; and the breakfast still excellent. The new owner has a few ideas about changing some of the layout which seems to make sense eg allowing breakfast to be taken on the patio.
We would still highly recommend this as an overnight stop and look forward to visiting again

Still Excellent

The place is very charming. The villa, surrounded by a small park and garden is from mid 1800. Everything is decorated in the style of the times. It has 4 bedrooms where you feel being at home in the past. The owners, who live upstairs, have done a marvellous job in restoring this villa bourgeois belonging to an industrial family of steel work. Breakfast was excellent with fresh croisssant, fruit, and home made jellies. It is worthwhile going for a romantic experience living in the past times, but also to visit Bourges whose cathedral is rivalling Notre Dame. If you reserve directly to gilles.oustalet@orange.fr you will get a better treatment.

Romantique and Historical Place

Very welcoming but do not arrive before 5pm. Our room the Liane de Poulgy, was the best we have found in a B&B.  Breakfast had everything you could ask for, large selection of homemade preserves, bread, croissants, cereals,eggs, mixed fresh fruit and homemade yogurt.
WiFi was good, lounge for guests, lovely little dog and of course first class hosts.

Fantastic B&B

We stayed one night on a return journey from Catalonia.  It was Sunday, chilly and raining.  We were welcomed by our host and hostess, shown around and offered refreshments immediately.  They speak English (much better than our French) and helped us find somewhere to have dinner, supplying a map.  Our room was very chic, spotlessly clean and supremely comfortable, with a lovely en suite.  Breakfast was magnificent, with lots of home made produce and enjoyed at a big table with fellow guests.  All very welcoming, and a delightful interlude on our long journey.
