We stayed overnight but there were at least 3 rooms and other guests were using it as a base. All thought this is a wonderful find with superb hosts and good food.The bedroom and bathroom were immaculately clean. The garden (where we ate in the evening) was fantastic and so peaceful. This is a rural B&B not a hotel.
We have added it to our list of superior places to stop over on the way to and from the Alps

Delightful, Quiet, Peaceful

We stayed there just for one night, returning from a holiday in the South. Very welcoming host Nicolas, who took the time to help us finding excellent wineries in the area. Breakfast was delicious. The room on the first floor was a little small, but had all we needed. Cleanliness was exemplary. We certainly plan to go back for a longer stay in Le Foineau!

Excellent B&B in between Macon and Chalons area.

Melania and Nicolas have transformed a “foineau” (barn or shed where you store hay) into an impeccable guest house. Nicely renovated, surrounded by a shaded garden and a swimming pool, a “kota” (BBQ shack), a three platform for the kids, a picnic table and a large parking space. We had a warm and friendly welcome. Our room was spacious with large windows, a private bathroom and shower. The calm assured by the countryside. The historical heritage of the surroundings is to be discovered (especially in Cluny).
The breakfast is varied, plentiful and excellent (in the French tradition; no meat, no eggs).
Since we are of French Canadian origin, chatting with Nicolas was like chatting with a friendly neighbour known for years. He knows the area just like a tourist guide. We highly recommend.

Wow ! For a foineau .....

Very fine guesthouse, run by very fine hosts. Tucked away in a little hameau in the chateau of a castle (the guesthouse was a former hay shed of the castle), it’s a place that breathes peace and calm. Excellent for taking a day off and linger in the garden with a book, leaving the premises only for a stroll through the area. On the other hand, for those that seek action, there’s the voie verte between Chalon sur Saône and Macon and the voie bleue between Tournus and Macon. At the end of the voie verte, in Chalon sur Saône, we were in for a surprise. We wanted to bike to the centre but didn’t know the centre was another 3 km further away and got stuck in a suburb of Chalon sur Saône where we turned in rounds. (The road indications in France are hopeless). It was noon and during a whole 20 minutes, we saw no living being in the streets or gardens, nor cars driving. I can’t describe the feeling one has when driving through a town (suburb) void of any sign of life, not even noise! Queer! Macon was no much better. The waterfront has been refurbished marvelously, but there are hardly any people to enjoy it, let alone tourists. Tournus, 8 years ago still a hub for the tourist vessels that cruise the Saone river, was now empty with only a handful of boats moored at the waterfront. Statistics state that tourism in France has receded with 6%. I have a feeling it must be more in this region, though. Fortunately, the table d’hôtes at the guesthouse made us forget these strange experiences, not only for the authentic, unexpected and generous menus, but also for the genuinely friendly and interested attendance of our hosts. With many thanks. A place we definitely would return to.

Very fine B&B

My in-laws have stayed here before and they keep going back. We joined them this summer for a 5 night stay, and we could not be happier. The place is comfortable, very clean, modern, peaceful, and quiet. The hosts (Melina and Nicolas) do a fantastic job cooking (I'd suggest you try their meals and let them surprise you with a great assortment of cheese), entertaining and making you feel well taken care of (plus they know their wine). The 2 rooms upstairs are well decorated and maintained with big, comfortable beds and large windows that overlook the garden. There is a treehouse where you can enjoy some quiet reading, a clean, large pool with sun chairs, and some patio furniture for an outdoor picnic.

Breakfast includes baguettes, yogurt, jams, juices, cereal and great coffee plus a daily basket of French pastries that you should not miss. We had planned to have dinner with them once or twice, but ended up having 3. We had paté, couscous, ham, fish, salads, cheese... paired with great wine and were not disappointed. 

The hosts are knowledgeable, friendly, respectful, and will get our of their way to help and accommodate any requests. I'd recommend this place to my family and friends, and certainly go back.

Loved this place

Melina was an excellent hostess who provided good food & wine in a beautifully designed communal area. The location is excellent for exploring the wine areas, the wonderful city of Beaunne and local medieval towns & villages. The have bicycles available with access to some lovely cycling in the area. One evening we had dinner in Chapaize, which Melina had recommended and was one of the highlights of the holiday.
