Booked this chambre d'hote as a handy stop over on our long journey across the length of France and loved the look of the place even before we arrived. But we were quite awed by this fabulous place as we drew up. The public rooms, with antiques, family heirlooms, books etc are very elegant and charming yet the Chateau still manages to feel like a happy family home. I think our jaws hit the floor when the bedroom door was opened for us and we were led into the most gorgeous room, with a view onto the lake and acres of green lawns stretching into the distance. Stephanie was a wonderful hostess - warm & welcoming, very happy to talk about life in such an amazing place and a fabulous cook. We opted for a table on the terrace for supper and our attention was only brought back from the serenity of the garden by the wonderful, home-made dishes that appeared as part of a simple set menu. Breakfast was a similar delight. As other reviewers have said, the attention to detail and little extras were just lovely. We definitely hope to return and can't recommend Chateau du Breuil highly enough as a perfect place for a stop over, to be treated to simple but lovely food & wine and to soak up the peace of such a gorgeous setting.

A very special place

wow... we're speachless... an outstanding place and the host is so lovely and helped us with what ever we need! delicious home made breakfast and the have big lovely dogs! we're so happy here and it makes us wanna buy a french castle too!:)

astonishing place!

Had a little trouble finding it, but only because we are Euro geographically challenged.  Stephanie greeted us on her bicycle out on the road to help us get to the house ok which was super nice.

She showed us through a lot of the house and introduced us to the very large musical calliope, which was really neat to see.

Her enthusiasm for the house really showed and she was an extremely generous and gracious host.  Even though we arrived way later than we planned, she insisted on bringing us the biggest charcuterie tray we've ever had up to our room.  

Every little detail is thought of at this place from the decor to the special things in the rooms like French macarons and slippers.  I only wish we could have stayed longer!

Breakfast was set up outside on the terrace overlooking the pond and there was a huge spread of traditional delicious items such as yogurts, granola, cheeses, meats, cereals, pastries, teas, and coffee.  

We are counting the minutes until we return to this heaven in France!

PERFECT, PERFECT, PERFECT

Absolutely loved this hotel. Beautiful place and room. Stunning location. Ducks. Goats. Fountain. Very friendly and helpful hostess. Lovely breakfast. As a gluten-free traveller, there were delicious options. (Fruit, yoghurt, crème freche, eggs) The hostess made me a perfect omelette. We will definitely come back next time we are heading in this direction. 
There is a lovely French restaurant (La côte d'or,recommended by the hostess) about 30 min drive away, if you're wondering where to find dinner. Apparently, there is also a Michelin star restaurant next door, if you fancy that. Perfect start to our summer holidays.

Perfect stop-over on our way south...

I had an amazing time when I went with my girlfriend for two nights in June. The rooms of this 19th century chateau were wonderful and the owners left out some delicious Macarons for us when we arrived.  We could hear frogs singing and a fountain trickling at night. I loved feeding the ducks and hanging out with the massive dogs (optional- we asked them to let them out). They had delicious gourmet breakfast and the grounds were spectacular to walk around on- especially around the pond filled with ducks and geese. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful-- and we actually really enjoyed just hanging around the chateau with them. I would highly Chateau du Gevrolles.
