Stopped at the Hotel Bellevue on our way done to our house in the Creuse. Picked this hotel, as it was close to my Great Grandfathers military cemetery and we wanted to visit his grave. Also the hotel is very dog friendly. We had an excellent stopover, lovely hotel, friendly and helpful staff and great room. 
We stayed in Room 8, on the second floor.  Excellent size, there was a large seating area. Separate bathroom and toilet. Shower was excellent. 
Breakfast was very good. A great priced hotel, good value for money. Will stay again.

Overnight stay

Stayed one night in this lovely hotel in such a fascinating location behind the castle walls 
Welcome was lovely as were all the staff friendly and genuinely warm 
Room was very comfortable bed with all facilities working well.
Dinner was very good in the beautiful dining room and well priced too

Breakfast was one of the very best that I have had in a French hotel 
well presented and all good especially the cafe au lait with proper hot milk and not out of one of those machines thank goodness.
Oh that i could find a reason to go to this part of France again to stay at this hotel

A TRULY LOVELY EXPERIENCE

.................. and had to pop in!
En route home from Germany and broke the journey here (again), and I am glad that we did.
Same staff and management, but more importantly it was the same chef with a similar menu as before.
Excellent service, clean and tidy as always and excellent food.
Not as busy as on our last stay, just two couples for breakfast but it was January after all. 
My dog discovered a great walk around the walls of the old town, lots of interesting things for him to discover, not least of all the free-range chickens much beloved in the French countryside.
A nice pleasant Sunday morning walk, leaving from one ancient gate returning in a circular route from the one next to the hotel.
Necessary after staying late in the bistro by the Mairie the night before!
Still very good value for money and a lovely part of the country with loads of ancient and modern history to discover.
If you like walking this is an ideal spot to start several well-signposted walking routes around the area, just check the notice board opposite the Mairie.
The village Post Office still has a bank machine attached if you need cash too, not very common these days elsewhere in Europe.

We were just passing by.............

Very French. Good reasonably priced menu for dinner, Proper cafe au lait for breakfast and a comfortable room. Shutters, so we could make the room dark, no standby lights. Great helpful staff, not great at speaking english, but we're bad at speaking french! Perfect stop for the night, shame we couldn't see the castle, mist came down!

Proper French Hotel Restaurant.

Stayed here last weekend with my wife and dog on the way to Calais (220 kms) from Germany.
Pleasantly and warmly welcomed by the manageress who took us on a personal tour around the facilities, she is obviously proud of the place.
All of the rooms and dining areas have been recently (March '19) refurbished and all are en-suite. Whoever chose the decoration has exquisite taste and a feeling for what looks good in an old establishment, it all seemed to fit in well.
Our room was a good size, clean and tidy with a view out over the terrace restaurant and the village square too. The old chateau is a matter of yards away and there is a very pleasant evening walk to be had on the old ramparts at the rear of the war memorial.
We ate in the restaurant on the Saturday evening, a wonderful meal of calves kidneys cooked to perfection.
For a 9 room hotel the restaurant was full and it is obviously popular with non-residents as I saw some people without reservations sadly being turned away.
We were allowed to take the dog into the restaurant area, he just curled up and went to sleep.
The food was magnificent, well cooked and presented and generous portions too. 
We ate two courses a la carte, with wine and drinks too, and I still had change from €50.
Breakfast the next morning was a leisurely affair, a very good choice of cereals, fruits, breads and croissants as you would expect on the continent.
All in all a very pleasant experience and one I am going to repeat when next in the area.
A little off the beaten track but well worth the detour just for the food and ambience.
A genuinely pleasant stay made memorable by genuinely nice people making you feel welcome and special.
Pretty central too if you are doing a tour of the area or its many battlefields over the centuries.
A great little find far from the madding crowd!

Newly refurbished and under new management

Based on our experience, I don't understand some of the negative reviews here. This is an old-fashioned but well-maintained little two-star hotel out in the middle of nowhere of the French countryside. 
They have a few old-style house rules (you have to order your breakfast coffee or tea the night before, apparently you cannot upgrade from half-board,..), but apart from that, service was very friendly and flexible. The family room was decent size, clean and cheap. Breakfast was great.
For dinner, we did not take the half-board but ordered à la carte in the hotel restaurant. There was plenty of choice, even a vegetarian option. Food was a throwback to earlier times. Not everything was excellent (e.g. the carrelet was seriously overcooked), but we liked the escargots and mushrooms; the shrimp and endives in orange sauce; the maroilles with salad.  
All in all a very enjoyable overnight stay, with plenty of things to see in the environment (the castle ruins at Coucy itself, Pierrefonds, Compiègne,..). If you like the idea of a nice, small hotel in a nice, small village where time seemingly has stood still, come here.

Friendly and nice

This hotel is probably the average travellers idea of France on his first visit. It is situated in the quiet upper part of the village. The only other business there is the Pizza Parlour. We arrived and checked in and up to a roomy bedroom. Everything was clean and fresh. Down to the dining room which also served as the bar and the staff dining room.Our dinner started with scallop and gambas brochette followed by veal medallions and a bottle of Chinon rouge and then dessert. The staff were young and provided a reasonable service. We slept well and were woken by hedgecutting across the road. It was a reasonable start to our holiday, and for anyone wanting a fair-priced and quiet location, it would be ideal.

A quiet place to stay.

We were expecting the service not to be great based on other reviews, but one staff member surpassed expectations. She was unfriendly and unhelpful. For instance, we weren't told how to get into and out of the hotel after 10pm, and it felt like we were locked in.
The room we were given looked dated and was very hot, partly add it was above the kitchen, which also meant it was noisy until 10pm. We had to sleep with the window open and the fan on and still it was very hot.
We opted for the half board option when we booked, expecting dinner to be from the menu du jour. We were told that there was no choice of any course and no option to upgrade to the menu. Luckily we are not fussy eaters and the food was actually nice. Veggies or anyone with dietary requirements would have been stuck.
Another fine example of customer service during dinner when we were offered drinks without seeing a drinks menu or carte du vin. Having ordered drinks they did not arrive until after the first course was already on the table. The red wine was not offered to taste despite being a cork, and was not poured. Water also was not forthcoming unlike in all other restaurants I have been to in France.
To be fair the price of the hotel is very reasonable and Coucy le chateau is a lovely location, but the management of their establishment leaves slit to be desired.

A bizarre experience

Ive been coming here many years, but new staff / owners recently have made huge drop in standards. Refurbishment good, but it seems hotel is run for staff not guests. I heard rumour that the hotel acts as a training ground for staff. Well, that explains a lot.
Avoid. It is my last visit.

Terrible slow service, rude staff

The most appalling stay we have ever experienced. Hotel refused drinks service to the group while serving others in the restaurabt, refused to allow us to sit in the garden seating area on the second night, refused access to the restaurant area, provided us nowhere to be other than in our rooms. Breakfast consisted of a small slice of cheese, and half a slice of ham and some butter, when we ordered yogurts, and jams and croissants, and we were charged 8 euros per person per night.
Then the most appauling experience I have ever had, the staff systematically banging on our hotel doors one at a time at 23:30 at night after we had returned from another restaurant, and demanded full payment there and then, they were carrying the card machine and two men demanding payment! The most demeaning and ridiculous actions I have experienced and we shall never be returning to this dismal disaster of a Hotel.
