Lovely place, had a great family room which was actually 2 separate bedrooms with the bathroom in between. View of the lake and clean and comfortable. The host was delightful, seems to be very hard working greeting the hotel guests and running the restaurant at both dinner and breakfast. The only downside was the bathroom which appears to be a ferry cabin bathroom cubicle with shower, toilet and sink in the space normally occupied by just a shower and all fitted into a room that would have been big enough for a proper bathroom. But that is a small niggle for such a lovely welcoming place.  

Surprisingly good

Hotel du Lac was one of the budget Hotel stops on our tour of Brittany so expectations were just that, 'a pleasant' stay in a budget Hotel.

Our expectations were massively exceeded by the hugely warm, enthusiastic welcome we received on arrival at this Hotel, the attitude of the staff and the willingness to deliver good service made our (one night) stay memorable.
The lady manager was an excellent host so eager to please she is a real asset to the Hotel and to the Hotel Brand.

The top floor room we had was spacious and the quirky 'Pre Fab' bathroom worked very well, there was WiFi for free and everything was clean and tidy.

The Location is great right opposite the lake, there was also a small space available to park our Motorcycles at the rear of the Hotel out of sight.

The only negative (and which wasn't unexpected) was the average 'inclusive' breakfast with some shop made pastries and basic components, as I said this is often the case especially in Budget accommodation so not a problem just something to bear in mind after such a positive review.

The small town is all accessible on foot so do take a walk around, the pretty town square with some bars and restaurants is just up the hill behind the hotel

Very welcoming chain hotel "The staff make the difference"

Returned to this wonderful Hotel to once again to enjoy the atmosphere, food and to visit the beautiful surrounding areas.
Hotels are about clean functional rooms, comfortable beds and and feeling welcome. This Hotel gets top marks in all categories add to this a dedicated and talented Chef/Patron Pascal Duperoux supported by his wife Maud who has a knack of making everybody smile and you have a combination that's unbeatable.
This Hotel is a credit to the Logis Group of Hotels and you should visit if you are in the area it's a well run family Hotel run in the best traditions of French Hotels where food and hospitality are top of the list.
We do not hesitate to recommend this Hotel

Oh to be back at the Hotel Du Lac

Friendly family run hotel. Very helpful, able to speak in French and English. We used it because our friends had not enough accomodation. We could have had breakfast but chose not too. There are a number of resturants in the locality including a cafe attached to the hotel that was very busy.

Over night Stay in Huelgoat

Stayed here for the second year running on a family cycle tour of Brittany.  Great location with a terrace overlooking the pretty lake. A warm welcome from the hoteliers.  Clean spacious rooms with good views. Great menu choices for dinner with a range of good value meals, also a pizzeria. A couple of our group had pizzas which were excellent, the others had the fish of the day in a beurre blanc sauce with rice, and a steak frites.  All was good, including the starters of duck and fig terrine, and good dessert menu.  Good efficient and friendly service and good value.  Continental breakfast good with bread, croissants, pain au chocolat and yoghurt and fruit, but as one of our family is gluten free and another dairy free, some eggs would have been nice. Will stay here again!

Great location, good food

I was pleasantly surprised by the Hótel du Luc. Our greeting on arrival was very friendly and check in was a breeze. Staff were friendly and very understanding of our limited French. The room was clean and well appointed. Bed was comfortable and the European style pillows were good (still getting used to them 😊).
The restaurant was another pleasant surprise, the set dinner menu looked excellent, with a good choice of food. The serving size was ample (especially with three full courses coming). The quality was as we have come to expect in France, wonderful, fresh and cooked perfectly. Delicious!! I would highly recommend the locally made Breton ice cream, normally I am not a fan of salted caramel but this was exceptional.
The area surrounding the hotel was lovely (if not a little wet), the lake is beautiful and the walking tracks near by beg for attention, especially during finer conditions.
Overall I would recommend the Hótel du Lac for a place to stay while exploring the surrounding area. Good value for money and a friendly atmosphere.

The Place to Be......

We booked the hotel as it was close to where we needed to be in order to complete some necessary admin for a house purchase. We chose it based on convenience and a pretty location. When we arrived, although raining, pretty was quite the understatement - what an absolutely gorgeous spot. The hotel was an unexpected pleasure. Wonderful service from helpful and friendly staff who never made us feel our limited and inferior French was a problem. Great sized room, adequate bathroom facilities and comfortable bed made for a very satisfying stay. The restaurant was the jewel in the crown, delicious food and wine and again wonderful service. I honestly do not understand the negative comments on here, they simply couldn't have been nicer. We will definitely return.
