We moved to this area in July, and  was recommended by a friend about this restaurant, all during the summer we came to eat, lunch and evening meals, sitting outside on the veranda, the staff very friendly and a good choice on the menu, price wise very good. Always went for a walk around the lake afterwards. 😪 It shut during the winter months, cannot wait for it to be reopened in the spring.

Love this restaurant

We were a table of three adults and arrived when service was in full swing. The restaurant was very clean and nicely decorated with tablecloths and shiny wine glasses on each table. We chose to eat inside rather than on the terrace and were seated immediately . The lunch menu consisted of an extensive buffet entree with prawns, cooked meats,replete with salad dishes and so on.The main course choice was from several options from steak through fish dishes and dessert options difficult to choose from. the menu de jour was 13.50 euros including wine.
We had 2 kirs and a g & T to start and two coffees to finish. A superb meal which we all enjoyed and the bill came to an incredible 49 euros. The staff were all pleasant and helpful and we will certainly visit it again. The bonus of overlooking a fairly large lake with a beach near the restaurant was the finishing touch.

What a great place to eat !!

L,Aquarelle du Limousin - a restaurant in La Souterraine France which is located beside a large lake. The food is very good with a selection of choices on the menu and a nice buffet starter all at very good prices. English is spoken and there is plenty of car parking.

A nice find

We were recommended to try the restaurant at this campsite and we were not disappointed.  The setting is very pleasant, overlooking the lake and small beach.  The set meal at €13.50 consisted of  a buffet for starters, then several choices for both main course and dessert, with an option to change dessert for cheese.  The buffet selection was excellent and included prawns, charcuterie, pate and numerous salads. Our group tried the steak and all reported very favourably, whilst the pork cutlet and trout also scored well.  Desserts were also very pleasant and the cost included wine as well.  The service was also very friendly and efficient.  Apparently the pizzas are also very good and are available for take-away.
