This is the sort of find you don’t wish to share with others as you know next time you want to go it will be fully booked. We had a two bedroom apartment with one large attic room with a double bed and one ground floor room with two single beds.  There was a fully equipped kitchen (with dishwasher, fridge, hob and full set of cutlery), bathroom and separate loo. The décor was simple and tasteful using local themes (the photos on the web are accurate). The bathroom was functional, clean and tastefully decorated with an excellent 4D shower with sound, light and scent options (with easy to use control buttons in the shower). Towels could be warmed on the purpose styled radiator (with towel heater switch). This homely apartment looked out onto a large garden with swings, a medium size chicken pen and rabbit shelter (which our toddlers loved). The owners were friendly, helpful and informative. The evening meals were excellent, nutritional, fresh, tasty and well presented. Best of all they were served in our rooms which allowed us to eat in total comfort keeping a watch over our kids either playing out in the garden or asleep in their beds. Our children mingled with a couple of other guests’ children staying in the b&b and we were able to swap accounts of things to see in the region (excellent toddler friendly beaches wide and shallow, sea museum, child friendly farms, steam trains). It’s unlikely you’ll find a more child friendly, comfortable, aesthetically pleasing, reasonably priced b&b (or hotel for that matter) in the whole of Normandy.

Excellent child friendly accommodation in Normandy

This pretty little B & B just outside of Coutances is nicely furnished and very clean. Good home cooking is offered in the dining room if you want an evening meal as well. There are no other dining or drinking options within walking distance so best dine in if you want a glass of wine or two. Breakfast is served with homemade jams from their own orchard (kiwi fruit in our case I think ) Lovely hosts who are genuinely interested in your comfort and they speak good English. Bedrooms are country style and furnished with high quality stuff and the bathrooms are nice - ours had a spa shower which was great fun. A nice, family oriented place with nice gardens as a bonus.

Country retreat

19th Century stone house with 3 bedrooms for guests. Ours was very clean and charming with an ensuite shower room. Breakfast was very pleasant and the owner is helpful and friendly. The countryside around this area is particularly pretty and the ruined castle of Gratot about five mins drive was definitely worth the visit. All in all, ideal for an overnight stay while touring.
