We stayed for one night recently en route from Calais to Brittany. As the Shuttle was delayed by four hours we did not arrive until 9pm but our hosts were not at all bothered about us being late. They made us very welcome and gave suggestions for a light meal  in Avranches centre which you can walk in 10- 15 minutes.
Our room wasn't big but the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom is of a high standard with good shower. Breakfast was lovely including home made youghurt and fruit from the garden. After breakfast we had a tour of the garden with both our hosts who are charming and very friendly. The husband, Christian, has excellent English and his wife is keen to speak English as well. Don't be fooled by the address being Le Val Saint -Pere and trust your satnav when it bypasses this village and heads to Avranches

Ideal for an overnight stop

Perfect stay for one night or few to visit the Mont Saint-Michel and other sights of Normandy. Our room was upstairs and the owner helped with the luggage (thank you).
Room spacious with good size of bathroom.
Bottle of water supplied. Fantastic breakfast with home made jams, fresh fruit (all from the owners garden - you can have a private tour), my husband joked about the cheese for breakfast - and he got it - fresh, beautiful Camembert .Great hosts who can't do enough to help you, like recommendation for a dinner in Avranches(walking distance) , a walk  with you to see the best view of Mont Saint-Michel and calling on your behalf to the Citroën Car hire. Charming owners

Selected by us thanks to the excellent reviews posted on TA, and the proximity to Le Mont St Michel in southern Normandy. How fortunate for us to stay here for 2 nights. Madam Elham and her husband Christian greeted us profusely with a gratis welcome drink on the terrace. He spent several years teaching at Edinburgh University and has a very good command of English (and a sparkling sense of humour!) which proved to be very helpful when seeking advice on the region's attractions and tour itineraries. We had the spacious downstairs room with comfortable bed and ultra-modern shower and toilet facilities - all spotlessly clean. Breakfasts were excellent and plentiful with home made fruit dishes and conserves. There is a pleasant garden for passing the time before setting out for a meal in one of the many good restaurants within easy walking distance. We would love to return here.

Wonderful hosts

We chose to stay in Avranches rather than Mont St Michel and were very happy with our choice. Monsieur and Madam Elham were very welcoming hosts and the room was perfect for our needs - a comfy bed and hot shower. Parking at the property and a short walk into town for dinner  - Madame Elham suggested and booked dinner for us at the Hôtel de La Croix d'Or which was excellent. 

Friendly welcome 

My stay here is mostly good – hospitable proprieters, ample parking, near good food, nice scenery and a star gazing enabled room.

Firstly,getting there was not very difficult. Our natsav got us there without problems but some preparations are needed using streetview and google map if you do not have a natsav. ER is located at the corner of a very sharp bend ( depending on where you come from ) and without a natsav, I will not be able to get it right the first time.

ER is located near the town center. It was bustling with life on the Sat that we arrived but Sunday was a ghost town. Public parking at the Jardins is plentiful if you wish to walk a bit to town. Mont St Michel was also visible from the Jardins lookout point.

Most  TA travellers mentioned that parking is tight because of the small compound but we managed it by reversing into the ER so that we can negotiate the tight corners when we get out.  

ER has a fire place and breakfast room were you can chill. The bathroom that comes with a sky roof window was cold the time we were there in December. This was the part which we didn’t like about ER 

The water pressure was very good and water was hot.

Our bedroom has a glass roof top  window and we could see the constellations (Big Dipper and Jupiter ) from our bed very clearly. It was awesome, something we would not do on the cold winter night outside.

Power points were adequate but the internet connection is best near the door.

You can get the most out of the TV programs if you know French. The proprietor speaks excellent English so we had no problems communicating with him.

If you don’t fancy staying at MSM, this is a good base to go to Mont St Michel. Driving back after sunset from the Mont to ER was very challenging because some of the roads were not lit.

One thing worth mentioning is the very impressive breakfast that was prepared for us. Lots of croissants, breads, homemade jams, beverages – it was a pity we could not eat them all. If you are the sociable type, you will enjoy eating a fancy breakfast with strangers at the same table.

ER listed triple room is for 2 persons, so the 3rd person pays a surcharge of €15 per night. Prepare to pay up in cash as no VISA payment is possible. This will be a lovely place to stay in summer.
