Last Autumn we really enjoyed our stay at Le Clos Boutenelle,  so it was top of our list for a stay next time we were close to Calais.

So earlier this week we managed to return for a one night stop over.

The  Manor House sits in a very quiet location and has been beautifully restored. It sits on the outskirts of the village, has a large garden with good parking outside the accommodation.

Breakfast is continental style and served in one of two lovely dining areas.

We will definitely be back again so thanks to Giles!

Another great stay …

Very convenient location for ferry or tunnel return to the UK at less than 30 minutes drive. The house is just outside a small village and is charmingly restored and decorated in the classical French country manner, set in a lovely formal garden, with ample car parking. Three rooms are available, all on the first floor up a winding wooden staircase. 
Continental breakfast was waiting the next morning in a beautiful dining room. Gilles was a friendly host with very good English, but polite enough to answer to my schoolboy French. 
There are many bars and restaurants 12 km away in St Omer, with one or two closer. 
Word of warning, pay in advance or take cash, as no card machine available. 
I recommend this guest house warmly


Charming and Convenient

We booked our room to stay in 2019 and Gilles honoured the booking. We arrived on a sunny afternoon and Gilles greeted us and showed us our fantastic room. We sat in the garden which was beautiful. The house and gardens are stunning and Gilles is the perfect host. We will definitely stay again.

Hidden Gem with an excellent host

This time around we visited with the whole family wich with 8 adults and 2 children took up all Gilles' rooms. He kindly let us have the run of the house and the garden where we spent a wonderful weekend enabling us to get reacquainted with Rubens' Descent of the Cross (from 1612 - probably the last of seven). The boys particularly liked the visit at the V2 bunker at Eperlecques.

A superb place

Beautiful house with tastefully decorated rooms and a caring and welcoming host. This is a real gem visually - so many hotels offend with their horrible interiors. Rooms are stylish but on top of that the place is also very clean. Gilles is an exceptional host.

Downside is sound insulation from other guests. Bring ear plugs.

Stunning

Gilles has put a lot of work and transformed what was almost a ruin in a beautifully decorated 19th century country home. With 4 couples in the four available rooms Gilles kindly allowed us to use both the salon and the dining area for a small picnic. Had the weather been better we would have sat in the large well tended garden. A B&B well worth staying at. And hopefully next year he will have his bees back.

Superbly remodeled 19th century country home

We spent an amazing couple of days there. This property has been painstakingly restored to its former 1800's glory, by its owner. Giles is a kind and discreet man, but what he does not say in words, he does with his hands. Still works around the grounds of the property, building a chapel, and keeping things in top shape. Accommodation, surroundings and breakfast were all excellent-must go!

Highly recommended!

A lovingly renovated old farmhouse in the middle of the countryside. The rooms were large and elegant, and we were made very welcome by the host. Elegant furniture and decorations related to the period of Napoleon was a lovely touch. The owner has done a great job with the gardens, and there was no problem with bringing the dogs.

Lovely B&B in the countryside

What a find, stunning house with gardens. We arrived very late due to our work and was greeted warmly and taken to our room. Our bedroom  was individual and beautiful which looked over the garden. The bathroom was large and very well laid out. Breakfast is at a large dining table and we met with some other visitors. 
Breakfast is plentiful and what more could ask for but home made honey which was pure nectar. 

I would love to return when I have more time. First class

An escape from the madness stop over pure delight

We chose this B and B because of its proximity to the Calais ferry. After staying here for 2 nights, we realize that it could be a place to stay for longer. The home is perfectly restored to an elegant early 19th century estate. Lovely authentic furnishings and French fabrics and wallpapers. Newly redone bathroom and plenty of electrical plugs and excellent wifi. Very, very quiet, too! Gilles is also the perfect host. Excellent value, too. (Service, cleanliness are excellent, too)
