Quiet, well run, friendly, no frills hotel. We stayed for 5 nights in room 15 in the Aven ("the annex'). Airy, very comfortable,  good-sized bedroom, with both a separate shower room and  a separate lavatory. Wonderful view. Great area for walks. Marvellous art galleries at both nearby atmospheric, a little touristy, Pont Aven and Quinper (45 minutes away).

Could not have found somewhere better

The Hotel du Port et de L'Aven is exactly how you hope a French two star hotel will be but rarely is. It is family run: M. Allain does the front of house duties, while Mme. Allain does the (excellent) cooking and their son waits on tables. The Hotel du Port is situated on the banks of the river Aven with splendid views across the estuary. Our room had a sea view and a large balcony. We had the demi-pension deal, which was very reasonably priced, even after the value of the pound against the Euro fell after the Brexit vote. This deal gives you a four course, no choice menu every night, with a big emphasis on fish as you might expect. If you didn't like something on the menu, you could choose something else from the A La Carte. There is a terrace in front of the restaurant, where we had an apero most evenings. It doesn't get the evening sun, but the evening light on the estuary is stunning. Other reviews have criticised the Wi-Fi, but we didn't have any problems, which may be because the router was outside our bedroom. For breakfast there is a choice of cereal, croissants, French bread, ham, cheese, hard boiled eggs, yougut and some fresh fruit. We spoke French with M. and Mme. Allain but heard them speaking English to other guests. This was our second visit and we will definitely be back.

The Perfect French Two Star Hotel

There are two hotels, "Port" and "Aven".  The second is an annexe with 21 comfortable rooms.  Ours was very quiet and spotlessly clean.  There is a delightful garden attached furnished with tables, chairs and umbrellas.  The "Aven" is about 150m up a steepish hill from the main "Port" hotel where you will find Reception and the dining room.  Breakfast is generous and offers a good assortment of choices.  The evening menu is short.  The dishes are well prepared. Parking is on the road, but it is a one-way system and there is plenty of space.  The nearby "La Chataignerie" brasserie a short walk away along a pretty beachside path with wonderful views is excellent.  See separate review.  We would happily return to enjoy the quiet and calm of this lovely spot.

Charming and comfortable Logis hotel

Small hotel well situated in a delightful part of Brittany. We stayed three nights in a room that is small but very clean which served our purposes. The hotel is run by M. Alain and his wife who provide a friendly service.
Evening meals are available in the dining room (Monday -Saturday) which has a wonderful view of the harbour. Although the menu is limited all the food is freshly cooked and is truly excellent.
Nearby there are wonderful beaches which were clean, quiet and help provide a most enjoyable break

Good small hotel with all basic needs

Having booked this four day stay on the internet we were somewhat dismayed to find that the hotel is in two parts, the main hotel and an annex 150 kms up a very steep hill. We were originally given a room on the third floor of the annex and as there are no lifts in either building the stairs proved to be difficult for us. The proprietor gave us the option of changing to a ground floor which we took. A lovely big airy room with a view of the sea which was comfortable and well equipped. Both of us have mobility problems,my husband because of heart problems and myself with two replacement knees which are still painful on stairs and hills. However we were able to park outside the annex, drive down to the main hotel for breakfast and then return on a circular route to the annex!
The breakfasts were standard fare but the coffee was brought to us by Frank, the proprietor's husband who was always smiling and polite although his English was on a level of our French. After the initial disappointment of not staying in the main hotel and coping with the steep hill we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would very much like to go back.
A short walk away is the most beautiful golden sandy beach with a bar/restaurant 
overlooking it.
The website did not make it clear that the hotel was on two sites and so people should take into consideration, the lack of lifts and steep road before booking.
