We stayed two lovely days at Chateau d’Ortaffa. The place is an amazingly well-kept and tastefully decorated town house from the 12th century. We stayed in the spacious and airy room Baroque. It was so quiet and comfortable, we slept very well. The best were  the wonderful owners, who were available and helpful, but honored our privacy. They also gave some excellent tips and we visited some extraordinary villages and monasteries. Breakfast from local products was served on the beautiful terrace/living room. Yet, the best was the atmosphere, we felt completely comfortable and rested. Hoping to visit again!

Art of hospitability

Authentic chateau experience in a quiet and beautiful village near collioure and perpignan. Located near to sea and mountains, we loved the relaxed friendly ambience of this area! 

Breakfast was set on the beautiful terrace overlooking the village, with delicious coffee, croissants, bread and cheese ( and home made apple sauce and apricot jam).

Our room ‘Picasso’ was everything you would hope for with a relaxing, romantic couples getaway.

Very much hoping to visit again!

Authentic chateau experience - highly recommend!

Absolutely beautiful old chateau, the rooms are huge, stayed in the Picasso room some great art work & interesting books. His and her sinks , walk in shower, interesting bedroom floor 😁. Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the village and Pyrenees beautiful served by Alain, home made jams & yogurt ( marmalade is superb). 
Would recommend & will return.

A beautiful old chateau with a lovely owner.

We have just returned from a delightful 4 day stay at this most interesting chateau. Alain and Michelle welcome you into their home, which has something of interest round every corner. Lovely rooms and great breakfasts - homemade yogurt and jams plus local fruits. Whatever you need to know/find these kind people will help you. It has been a pleasure

A peaceful stay

Such a wonderful stay!  We only stayed three nights and were so sad to leave.  The Chateau is gorgeous and so old yet updated beautify.  The hosts were charming, breakfast delicious and terrace beautiful.  The rooms are amazing, huge, charming, and honestly if the weather were bad we would have completely enjoyed just enjoying our room and the Chateau itself.  Breakfast was delicious and the restaurants in the area were the best of our whole month long vacation in France. We can't wait to go back.

We love our two night stay. Fantastic hosts. Alain was so welcoming and helpful; sharing stories about the chateau; arranging nearby restaurant reservations, recommending things to see and do.  Fantastic breakfast - if you get a chance to try Michelle’s homemade yoghurt, don’t miss out

Fantastic hosts

We had a lovely two-night stay at Chateau d'Ortaffa.  The chateau itself is beautifully presented and full of history and charm. We stayed in the Tuscan suite which was very spacious and comfortable.  The breakfasts were delicious - especially the home-made yoghurt and locally produced honey!  - and were served on a lovely terrace overlooking the village.  We highly recommend the chateau to anyone looking for a special place to stay in this region.

A lovely stay at Chateau d'Ortaffa

We have just spent a week in this beautifully restored chateau, full of antiques and object d’arts. We stayed in ‘Baroque’, with its beautiful view over the village and the Pyrenees.  A lovely room with a large bathroom with twin basins, bath and an open shower.  Alan and Michelle were so very welcoming, providing us with maps and ideas for the day, together with suggestions of restaurants for dinner.  Breakfast was very good, with croissants, bread, fresh fruit and homemade yogurt, served on a small terrace overlooking the village.  Thank you Alan and Michelle for your hospitality and friendship, we shall certainly recommend Chateau D’Ortaffa to our friends.

A lovely stay in Chateau D’Ortaffa

My husband, sister and friends stayed in 3 of the 4 rooms in this lovely chateau, all beautiful, comfortable and welcoming. The hosts are very helpful with advice on local sites and restaurants, all of which turned out well. The breakfast every morning was delicious, from the homemade yogurt and jams to the great bread and croissants and fresh orange juice. Great location, not far from the coast and in a quiet village. We look forward to returning for another stay and can highly recommend a stay with Alain and Michelle.

Warm Welcome in Ortaffa

Alain and Michelle were wonderful, friendly, kind and helpful hosts. They gave us many tips on restaurants and places to visit during our week long stay.  There are many restaurants in the local villages and  Elne plus a supermarket with fuel a few miles away.
 Our bedroom ( Baroque) was large and beauitifully decorated with a fantastic view over the terrace, village and mountains. It had an attached dressing room behind lovely wooden doors to store cases and clothes with a safe for valuables. The bathroom was large with twin basins, a large bath and the same lovely view from the open shower through a window.
Breakfast was served on a wonderful terrace with amazing views over the village, church and mountains all the way to the coast. We had fresh fruit and homemade yoghurt ( delicious!) plus bread, croissants, cheese and a great selection of jams and local honey plus coffee and a selection of teas.
The chateau is great for visiting
- Collioure ( the sea was so lovely and warm to swim in even in October) with a lovely market on Wednesday and walk up to the windmill and Fort Elme, 
- Villefranche sur Conflent ( walled town with interesting ramparts)) and a nearby walk up to St. Martin du Canigou, a beautiful working abbey with amazing views 
Carcassone , a mediaeval walled city with the old town below 
Ceret, a large local town
Spain and Dali's amazingly quirky house which we visited on a previous trip to this area, one of our favourites in France.
