Dirty, dusty and stinky room. The moquette smelled of smoke. 
The old blankets were dirty of plaster!!!! 
The lift did not work, we had the room at 5th floor, we asked if anyone could help us with the luggages and the answer was: “I can do nothing, the lift doesn’t work and you have to use the stairs” Same answer when we asked if the moquette was in every room. Helpfulness and availability of the receptionist: ZERO this is not acceptable. We left one night before. It was the worst hotel we’ve ever overnighted.

I really enjoyed my stay here. The staff were very sweet and friendly. It is a very old fashioned hotel and yes it could do with a bit of a face lift but I liked every moment of my time here. It was worth the money for the comfortable bed and considering it is very cheap to stay here I am a happy customer. I wouldn’t pay for the breakfast as there is a lush bakery next door which has better options. Overall, I would recommend this hotel as it made me smile and the staff are lovely.

Charming and very sweet

We loved this hotel. It's old but well-maintained and in a really fantastic location (very close to Luxemburg Gardens and a stroll to Notre Dame Cathedral). The owners and staff were very lovely and helpful. Considering Paris can be pricey, we thought this hotel was excellent value for money.

Excellent location

Great location near Pantheon, Luxumborg Palace. Short walk to Metro, and the location is a good place to stay for tourists generally. The hotel itself is basic with out-dated facilities but at least its an affordable option in a good area.

Great location

Good location. Traffic noise very loud but if you run the small fan some is drowned out and you dont need to open the windows. Lots of restaurants near by, subway very close that will take you to the airport for 10.6 euros per person

A weekend in Paris

I stayed in this hotel in 1999 and again last week.  It's still worn out.  That said, the staff are nice and speak a bit of English (20 years ago they refused to).  The breakfast (9 euro) needs an upgrade to include some more items - mostly has breads and cereal.  The room we had on 4th floor was small but fairly clean with a good shower.  The windows open to the noisy street below so expect noise late into the night.  There is no AC so you might need to open windows and endure the noise.  WiFi was on and off, but mostly on.  There is a 2 person elevator which is nice.  One more annoyance.  They don't clean the room until mid afternoon.

Many shops (including convenience store for overpriced snacks and drinks) and a laundromat (to wash clothes) nearby.  The Parthenon is a 5 minute walk.  It's a 15 minute walk to the Seine river and the Notre Dame.

If you need parking for a car, there is an underground lot near the Parthenon.  Best bet is to book a space online ahead of time for the best rates.  We paid 50 euro for 3 days (72 hours).  You can locate the various lots in Paris and book at the OPnGO website.  The underground lots are called "Indigo" and are all over town.  For short term parking all the spaces on Paris streets have to be paid at a kiosk on the curb somewhere on the block where you park.  Note they don't accept US credit cards!  There are ways to pay online but we did not try.

Not a terrible place, but would not stay here again.

Very Worn Out Hotel in a Central Location

Average hotel, Nice staff, very good placement. 3 minutes walk to Luxembourg garden, 10-15 min walk to notre dame, louvre etc. We we're happy because of the placement, the hotel is quite fine - nothing fancy, but the placement is very good.

Close to Luxembourg garden

Hotel Staff were respectful and courteous.  Very traditional hotel experience.  Great location- very close to Notre Dame cathedral.  Interior of hotel needs to be refurbished.  Coffee in morning was great.


Hotel-Gay-Lussac

I went with my Husband for new years Eve arrive on 29th and staying 4 nights. Was lovely. Very well located hotel, near boulangeries, Jardin du Luxembourg, buses, restaurants, etc. Good it has a lift.
Staff was very kind. 
The hotel's structure is very old, though,the bathroom is a bit cold, the room was clean, every day someone came to change the garbage and the bathroom towels and make the bed

Good

The price was high (142 Euro per night) for an old fashioned and dark sad room filled with 3 beds.. Interiour was old and worn off. Bathroom poor, toilet dirty and smelling of urine. Urgently requires refurbishing and price should be really reduced with 50%. When asking for coffee during breakfast, priority was given to teach first the cleaning help how to refill the chemical orange juice machine with the cheep stuff (I dared to try it but could not swallow it). The croissant and chocolate bread was clearly not fresh, I guess at least a day old. The second morning, they were suppriced I left without breakfast.. Went around the courner for my breakfast. Never again to this place... Ripp off.
