Chateau Estefani is located just outside Pau and in lovely, quiet setting.  The on site staff, Richard and Cathy, are most accommodating and make one feel right at home.  Our king bed room had two balconies and was well appointed.  You are 5 mins from the scenic promenade in Pau and 20 mins from the Pyrernees.  While we didn't go this trip, San Sebastian, Spain and the Atlantic are only an hour away.  We'd return to Chateau Estefani on our next trip.

Chateau Estefani is a fantastic place to stay - it was more like a 5 star hotel than a chambre d'Hote (Bed & Breakfast) - so excellent value for money.  The rooms are excellent with beautiful grounds and a lovely pool, only 5 mins from Pau city centre by car. Richard & Cathy could not do enough to make our stay enjoyable. There is no lift, so if you can't manage stairs request a room on the ground floor.

Brilliant find!!

The chateau was beautiful, the staff were lovely and the grounds were  breathtaking. The view from our room allowed us to see the beautiful peaks of the pyrenees. The location of the chateau was ideal and close tp  Pau  on the northern edge of the Pyrenees. The swimming pool was clean and inviting. The staff were attentive and friendly throughout our stay. The bathroom and bedrooms were clean, spacious and bright.The chateau had a warm feel to it. There was a nice blend of both old fashioned and modern furniture and interior design.  We  enjoyed our stay .......you will not be disappointed.

"Exquisite"

We hired the entire chateau for 19 people. 

Upon arrrival the chateau has a real wow factor and we were greeted by Cathy who is lovely, English speaking and very accomodating. We were early but were able to drop our bags in and make use of the pool while the chateau was being prepared. In the end we went shopping and returned at 315 giving them the time and space to prepare the accomodation

Three of the bedrooms remained locked and out of use to us despite us hiring the whole chateau for the week, this was OK as we had enough rooms. We felt there werent enough places to store clothes. Although all the rooms had wardrobes we had to hunt out hangers and the drawer space was VERY limited. 

We felt also that there was not enough seating in the chateau especially in the lounge area - two sofas for 19 people, it was as though furniture had been removed, many of the rooms were sparce. Although we spent most days outside on the evening we did come inside when it went cold and it took us serveral days to figure out the sky TV (we had been told there were issues but we were left to figure it out for ourselves).

Wifi access is limited and you can only get in it when sitting outside the kitchen (not a huge issue as it was quite nice to not be on ipads etc but worth mentioning)

Good but some photos were deceptive...

We made sure that we did not arrive until 4pm, as requested. The notice at the front door indicated that we should make our way to the office where we waited for over 10 minutes. On returning to the front door we found a notice which read that if no one was about we should phone a given number and if that failed, we should go to the lodge house. Neither of these options proved fruitful and eventually on hearing a distant vacuum cleaner discovered Richard on the top floor - it was not a good welcome. 
Our room was very clean although storage was limited and the room was smaller than the impression given on the web site. A small balcony with two chairs looked far from safe with rotting wood showing. The view was delightful.
The shower room was small but hot water, as happens in old buildings, took an age to reach us.
Perhaps the most disappointing aspect of our stay was the breakfast, which was probably the poorest that we have ever encountered on our many travels in France. Croissants were of the 'long life' variety and any other choice was limited, although the bread was fresh.
The comparison between this chateau and the cheaper B&B where we continued our holiday could not have been greater, where we received a warm welcome (plus drink) and superb breakfasts. This highlighted the overall disappointment at Chateau Estefani.
