We opted for the honeymoon suite - nicely located and a large comfortable room.  Wonderful Hosts who were kind and efficient.  Beds are large and comfortable.  Plenty of hot water.  Wonderful breakfast. Easy parking.  We were 'en route' and only stayed for a night but i would be happy to stay here for a week as the surrounding areas are delightful. Thank you Mattieu x

Elegant, charming, calm stay in a cherished Chateau

Lovely location. Very friendly owners who took over in January 2020. Great rooms.
The rooms are nicely decorated and the views are great. Nice to stroll around in the gardens or find a spot and read a book.

Great stay.

Wonderful location, and very welcoming hosts.  We loved the room (and also the owner's cats and dog!).  We were very comfortable, and loved the décor.  Breakfast was typically French, served in the beautiful orangery.  The only thing missing was a bowl for the cereal - we had to ask.  The grounds are idyllic.  We would definitely stay there again.

Tranquility itself

Really great renovated Chateau. We stopped here on the way back from Spain to the UK so it was only a quick one night stay. We were made to feel very welcome by the owners and they were very accommodating. The Chateau itself is amazing, great architecture and history. The rooms and building have been really nicely renovated. Our room, one of the family rooms was very clean, very comfortable and had amazing beams! The bathroom was very very clean, towels, soap and shower were great and bottled water was a nice touch. Only small thing was there was no hot drink facilities in the room. As we were leaving early we could have done with a coffee or tea...apart from that it’s fantastic. Would highly recommend it...especially for a longer stay to explore the local area. 

Fantastic pit stop 

The photos that show the walls in the shower say it all. When I told the owner she acted surprised. Like this kind of mold apears over night? Like the original stone walls but they show that they are not good for wet areas like a shower. Advise: put tiles on the walls.

unacceptable!

This hotel has a very pretty location, set amidst extensive grounds with fountains and streams and flowers, and our room, with high ceilings and many windows, was large and comfortable. However, it is a shame that the owners appear to have no interest in pleasing their guests.

We arrived at this B&B on a Sunday afternoon with a reservation, and there was no one there! Finally, a very young woman (who spoke no English) appeared and told us that the owners were away, but she would show us to our room. Of course, it was not the room we had booked, and it was up a steep stairway, which we had intentionally wanted to avoid. Fortunately, I can speak some French. When we asked to see other rooms, the woman phoned the owner for permission. Then we found a suitable room—and we agreed to wait while it was made up. The woman again phoned the owner and was instructed to negotiate a higher price. We found that entirely unacceptable.

Later, when one of the owners arrived, and we asked for some help with the phone, he said he wouldn’t know how to use a phone card. Maybe we could try the next day. The Wi-Fi worked only in the office of the chateau. Breakfast was simple, but adequate. We are light eaters, so croissants, bread, and fruit were satisfactory for us.

I realize that the promotional brochure for Chateau Mouillepied emphasizes that it is a good location for weddings, receptions, and conferences. Perhaps that is the business that the owners wish to promote. We had the distinct impression that no one cared about the comfort of individual guests.

Very disappointing

I booked a room by emailing the owner the day before. She replied saying a room was available. She did not tell me it was not in the main chateau, so it was a surprise to be shown to a small and very basic conversion in an outbuilding. Nonetheless, this would have been acceptable had it been cleaned before our arrival. She particularly asked what time we would arrive, and we were on time, leaving more than 24hrs to get the room ready. We initially accepted the room, though with some disappointment, but on inspection was disgustingly dirty, full of enormous flying beetles, dead and alive, and the whole room was wreathed in cobwebs which were full of spiders. The floor including under the bed was covered in fluff and dirt. My husband swept it with a broom and dustpan lying around, but the ceiling and walls were still covered in spiders and cobwebs. Not very nice as there was no headboard so the bed was directly against the stone wall. The room smelled strongly of damp and had clearly not been aired or cleaned, the shower was dirty with a tatty, frayed curtain, there was broken plasterwork and the bed linen, while clean, felt damp. I was astonished the woman who showed us to the room (the owner??) was not embarrassed by the state of it. There were also no towels and my husband had to walk across to the chateau to ask for some. He found her attitude terse and offhand. Having reflected on the situation we decided to leave, but the reception was locked and the place deserted, so we put the key through the letterbox and emailed our decision and the reasons for it immediately on departure. A real pity, as the chateau is wonderful and I assume the rooms inside are better. To put this in context, we have stayed in many historic and 'shabby chic' properties and obviously accept they are what they are - no excuse for abject filth though, a room that clearly hadn't been cleaned for months, and a terrible attitude to customers. Up to this point we'd had a fabulous trip around France, staying in similar historic houses with delightful owners. This experience really struck a bum note and spoiled our trip somewhat, coming as it did near the end. :(

Filthy room, offhand attitude

We wanted to have our wedding ceremony here as it is idyllic but had a terrible experience in dealing with the owner. They were keen to take our deposit but then heard nothing after that. No replies to emails or phone calls and the times we visited france before the wedding only the cleaners were present.

We had our wedding at chateau de crazannes instead and the service was incredible. We never did get our deposit back.
