Brilliant food ,And very good service  and priced reasonable .the beef is very good .All home made cooking  we will definitely return soon.  You  need to book as they get very busy. Front of house is very good .

Fantastic French food

We stayed here for three nights while attending a friend’s birthday party. The service is friendly and efficient, the room was delightfully clean. It is very comfortable place to stay. We loved the capacity to boil our own eggs for breakfast!

Delightful service

My Choir CANTIQUE hosted a visit from VOCI choir and needed accommodation for twenty something people. 
Hotel de France were fantastic and Cedric, Annie and the genius in the kitchen Herve gave our UK visitors a real home from home. 
We know how good the food is here and count ourselves lucky to have such a fine place where traditions are upheld and  standards remain high. 
So THANK YOU to all at Hotel de France. They will be back! 
This hotel is clean and secure with excellent management in Cedric and delicious food.

A fantastic week!

As always book your table we arrived late morning before wandering the town and reserved our outside table.
As always the food was fantastic.presentaion of everyone of our meals was perfect and good value.
The lamb was beautiful and my fruits if the sea salad was perfect for a sunny day with a glass of chilled red.
We have been coming here for five years and have never had a bad meal. 
Plenty of parking. Sitting inside or outside. Staff wonderful English spoken if needed 

Sunday lunch

Have been coming to this restaurant for 15 years, as it's only 20 minutes from our home. Have never had any reason to moan about anything, the food has always been amazing and so have the staff. Love it every time 💕👍

15 years I've been coming here !!

My wife and I spent the weekend in Rochechouart in early December to sign contracts on the nearby farmhouse we're in the process of buying. The town is only about 30 mins (25 miles) drive from Limoges airport and it's a pleasant journey through small villages and rolling countryside along what would be considered an A-road in Britain.

Although we didn't see the area at its brilliant, summery best – weather-wise, it was a miserably wet and chilly weekend – but Hotel de France certainly provided us with a cosily warm welcome and we'd recommend it to anyone looking for a short stay in this wonderful medieval town on the Haute Vienne-Charante border.

We had barely walked back into our hotel on the Friday evening when the Christmas lights were suddenly illuminated in the small square perfectly overlooked by our room (number 101). We instantly felt at home here.

We had dinner here on our first night. Cedric, the son of the owner, happily talked us through the menu with a smile and in perfect English. 

As we're moving to the cattle capital of France, I chose pork cuts, followed by fillet of Limousin beef with veg. Suze had foie gras for starters, followed by fillet. We shared the chocolate dessert and agreed it was all a delight. The group of French diners on adjacent tables also seemed to enjoy their meal.

Our modern room had an adequate shower and a powerful radiator - just as well, because the overnight temperature outside would dip to minus three degrees.

Although there are plenty of parking spaces in the square where the hotel is situated, we heard no traffic noise and enjoyed two very peaceful nights' sleep.

Our two-night stay wasn't cheap - around €250, including the Friday evening meal and breakfast on Sunday - but it is a nice place, quiet and ideally located in the heart of the town, so everywhere was in walking distance.

Warm and cosy French treat

Right in the middle of the lovely old part of town, with good free parking out the front.  We quickly resolved a small problem with our booking, and were shown to our room.  Nice big bathroom, small but clean twin room on the top floor.  A couple of flights of steps, but not a problem.  Very quiet sleep.

We had a room which had just been refurbished. Fantastic monsoon shower, comfortable bed, clean and fresh, excellent WiFi. Friendly staff. Dog was extra each night but welcomed. We only had breakfast once..standard, nothing special. Location in this fascinating little town was central and offered lovely walks round the castle and river and site of the 200 million year ago meteor strike. Beautifully laid out and signposted. Highly recommended.
