The hotel is extremely tastefully decorated and the attention to deail very impressive.
The food in the evening was particularly good - one of the best starters my wife and I have had, anywhere! The scallops with St Jaques cannalloni - simply superb. The main courses and deserts were no let up on quality and the cheese selection, brilliant, all explained in order to have a diverse and interesting selection.
The welcome could not have been warmer and if we hadn't been just staying there for one night we would have gladly taken up the patron's offer of arranging some vineyard visits. We hope to do that on another trip.
The Sat Nav took us on a very circuitous route - we were going to come in from the East, which would have been an easier route, but in the event we decided o come down through Le Mans and so approached from the west, and as it was a last minute change decided to let the sat nav do the work. This was a small mistake - so pre-planning the route could save some kms.
We will be returning and recommending to all we know - a really good place to spend some time.
Don't forget to ask for some vineyard visits to discover Vouvray.

Very tastefully decorated and superb attention to detail

We travel fairly frequently from the Channel coast to the Dordogne and have been seeking a good stopping point about half way along the route.  Auberge de la Brenne is the answer to our prayers.  This is a family run small hotel in a village setting a reasonable distance from the AutoRoute.
The welcome was warm and our room, whilst not large, was well furnished and beautifully prepared.  The bathroom was unusually good.  The restaurant is a short walk from the building in which the bedrooms are housed.  Dinner is served in a bright airy room.  There is a comprehensive wine list and the wine is well cared for.  Our dinner was of a very high standard and it is clear that great care is taken over its preparation.
Breakfast was equally enjoyable with a wonderful selection of honeys and jams.
I was quite thoughtful about writing such a fulsome report on this establishment as it might mean that we may have difficulty in booking here in the future.  But I recommend the Auberge without reservation. It is not, however, cheap.

Just What We Had Been Looking For

Logis vary in quality across a wide range. This is one of those very much on the better side. Brenne is actually a restaurant with rooms on the side and they are very good. The rooms are smart and respectable with spotless modern bathrooms. The restaurant is top class. A quality family affair with everything freshly made from the best local produce.  Breakfast is very special with home made yogurts, jams and pastries. A pleasure all round, we have no hesitation in stopping again. Only negative is that they need to improve the wifi access.
