Really a comfortable feeling. The village and buildings are older, but are well cared for, have a homely feeling,  and clean.  Scenic surroundings and old charm. Good continental breakfast, and gourmet dinner available.  Highly recommend.

Friendly hospitality, old charm, clean and comfortable

We had a great stay here. We wanted to stay close by St Emilion, in a comfortable room and found everything we were looking for here.  The home is in the middle of vineyards and we were welcomed to walk through the vineyards. The views were outstanding.  The room was nice, just what we needed, and the other guests were mostly repeat visitors.  The best part was the hostess.  She is well traveled and speaks English very well.  She greeted us with warmth, took care of every need and made sure we had any information, resources we needed.  She even did our laundry as she didn't want us to miss any of our vacation to have it done.  Because she has traveled so much she anticipates what vacationers need. We stayed throughout France the past two weeks, in a mix of accommodations.  Everyone greeted us kindly but the highlight was the care Veronique gave us.  I highly recommend staying with her.  It is not a luxury accommodation, but a wonderful place to stay if you want a comfortable room, good location and to feel well taken care of along the way.  I will definitely stay here again.  

We stayed on the ground floor which was very convenient as our bags were very heavy.  The small staircase inside may have been tough to navigate with our heavy suitcases.  We did see one room upstairs, as Veronique gave us a choice, and it was quite lovely with beautiful views.  Note, no A/C but we were provided fans.

Fantastic hostess and wondeful time

We stayed for 2 nights at the end of August.  When we arrived Veronique offered us a suite with 2 bedrooms, a small sitting room and a large bathroom at no extra cost.  We had dinner with wine on the first night and it was delicious.  We enjoyed sitting in the garden talking with all the other guests and the hosts.  It was a very nice stay - there was also a sitting room downstairs guests can use and tea and coffee is available to help yourself.  St Emilion is a very charming old village and the obligatory wine tour is very informative.

A lovely stay with realy lovely hosts

A lovely B&B in the countryside conveniently located just a few minutes from the village of St. Emilion.  The rooms were pleasant, clean, and mine had a nice view of the surrounding grape vines.  Our hosts were friendly, and the food we enjoyed at dinner and breakfast was excellent.  It was a treat to meet their son, as well, who helped serve at dinner and joined in a fun conversation afterward. The price was also quite reasonable given the difficulty of finding reasonably priced lodging in and around St. Emilion.  I would recommend La Petite Madeleine to anyone travelling in the area.

Good Value, Great Hosts

We decided to finish our stay in France in the village of Saint Emilion, at La Petite Madaleine. After spending 1,5 day at that charming place we only regret not staying there for more time. The house itself is built in provence style thanks to which it spreads the authentical atmosphere from the very beginning.
We  especially enjoyed the romantic view of the vinyards from our room, as well as the tour among the local wineries. Thor showed to be a very skilled guide who knew the village and local places that were worth to see really well. He and his wife, Veronique, gave us a warm welcome and kept being helpful and kind during our stay. 
We also loved the typical French breakfast that included delicious home-made jams. 
Hope to go back some day, but definitelly for minimum of 1 week.

Wonderful stay

Véronique and Thor have a wonderful rustic home right in the middle of vineyards surrounding the village of Saint-Émilion. It is the perfect place to stay if you are looking for lots of wine tasting, strolling around vineyards, having some quiet and peaceful time and visiting nearby villages and Bordeaux. Our room had a beautiful view of the next door vineyard, was very clean and had everything we needed (right down to insect repellant). The classical French breakfast around the rustic kitchen table was also delicious with many kinds of tasty jams and nice people to talk to. Make sure to save one night for dinner with Thor and Véronique; Thor is a great cook. Véronique had all sorts of advice for any question you could have; which vineyard to visit, where to eat, which villages to go, etc. All in all, it was a wonderful visit and is highly recommended to anyone visiting the area.

Superb stay!

We stayed for 3 nights in Nov arriving on the first day of the "yellow vest" protests which unfortunately did somewhat impact on our trip to Bordeaux and Paris....but this was not the fault of La Petite. Veronique made us aware of the protests and suggested roads to take to avoid the road blocks and we managed this with the help of Google maps. This quiet B & B is in the middle of the Vineyards just outside Saint Emillion and you won't have trouble finding it with a GPS....wouldn't recommend arriving at night for the first time though ;) We had a very nice warm, clean room upstairs with a nice renovated bathroom. When Veronique found out where we came from, she produced a jar of Vegemite to go with the croissants for breakfast! Veronique also kindly helped us with our driving sightseeing itinerary and booked 2 local wineries for us to visit. The only negative about this visit was not the fault of Le Petite but as it was off season, a lot of restaurants in the Saint Emillion area were closed. On a Tuesday night in November, we counted only 5 restaurants opened....we settled for a nice cosy Vietnamese restaurant! In hindsight, we should have asked Le Petite to prepare dinner for us that night :) If we are in the area again, we would stay here again.

A nice stay

Thor Inge and Veronique are your hosts in this lovely B&B. They are a friendly and welcoming couple. Rooms are couples and bathrooms have showers. Parking is free, breakfasts are great and you can eat a wonderful meal coked by Thor Inge with wine upon request. It is a 5 minute ride to the beautiful town of St. Emilion. You can walk to wonderful dinner at a local winery (5 minutes, hosts provide a flashlight) through a wine field. Thor Inge, a wine connoisseur, will drive you around the area to tour wineries. The stay was memorable and I’d head back there to stay if I was visiting the region again!

A wonderful B&B minutes from St. Emilion and in the heart of wine country

We loved our stay here!  We stayed four nights and enjoyed every minute!  It was so quiet and peaceful - the view of the vineyards outside our room’s window was beautiful!  We loved the use of the patio for a glass of wine in the afternoons and perhaps a nice visit with other guests or with Thor!  Both Véronique and Thor were wonderful hosts...  They were eager to help and answer any questions we had.  Thor cooked us a very nice dinner the night we arrived.  This was prearranged and I’d highly recommend it.  The breakfasts were nice and it was often a great opportunity to visit with many interesting people from all parts of the world!  The rooms were large, clean and nicely decorated.  We were sad to leave...  The only small negative thing  I could mention was that our towels had a slightly musty smell that perhaps a little bleach could fix...  or maybe just needed replacing.  However overall it was a perfect stay!  Thank you so much!  

Fantastic B & B!

If you’re looking for a value priced B&B with a great view of the vineyards surrounding Saint-Emilion, La Petite Madeleine is the place to go.  Veronique (MILLS) & Thor-Inge GEITHUS bought this Saint-Laurent-des-Combes house about ten years ago and have converted it into a homey bed and breakfast only minutes from Saint-Emilion. They provide the typical B&B breakfast and great recommendations for nearby restaurants in all price ranges.  Below are photos of our room and the view from our room.
