Just a quick one night stay, more than satisfied, delicious evening meal, pleasant atmosphere,comfortable nights sleep, Our hostess managed to cook, serve and be present and eat with her guest's. Nice breakfast and all set in a charming little village. Many thanks for your welcome and hospitality 10/10!!

We stayed at the 'Le Puits Fortifié' when travelling to the South of France. We knew we were going to be late, which was not a problem for the host. Late was very late, close to midnight, due to traffic on the way. She led us in, showed us to our room, which was very nice. We had a family room and a very big bathroom. 

Breakfast was served at 7 AM at our request. A breakfast full of home made items: bread, kind of pie, yoghurt, ...

A place I can recommend, for the B&B and the area.

Interesting B&B, very friendly host

A lovely house in a charming village with history that deserves more investigation.
We were one of five couples staying this night which made for lively conversation over an evening meal. Unfortunately it was not to be.  The meal,though all home made, was just a little above average but not plentiful. The conversation was very much 'one sided' by a guest who had a lot to say/sell? and the wine not so special as to compensate. But it was finding out that our bathroom was not en-suite that downgraded our views. Countary to other guest reviews, I didn't enjoy the breakfast as the choice was somewhat limited to bread not to my liking.Maybe it had something to do with a disturbed nights sleep as the church bells ring just across the road and the curtains in the bedroom are so thin that they neither stop daylight nor noise.The separation between rooms left a lot to be desired. All that said, the house with its spiral staircase was a delight, and our hostess manages everything on her own - - -without the use of a village shop.  indeed, she did very well under these circumstances.
  The walk around the outskirts of the village after breakfast is well worth while.I feel the history about here should be investigated further. The village itself with its ' wash house' is also very interesting.
  To sumerise I'd say - - - -we've stayed in better places and eaten better food, but I can see why other people could find Le Puits Fortifie quite acceptable.

Good but not outstanding

While traveling in France for work I needed a room for the night. Looked on Booking but there are not really many hotels so I decided to book Puits Fortifié. I should have looked on TripAdvisor first.
The house is situated on the main thoroughfare of a small village with no shops or bars. So you are quite stuck and have to eat with them. 
I arrived at around 17:00. Nobody. I called the number indicated on Booking, the voice mail asked me to call an other number. Nobody. 
I was quite stranded in the blazing sun, on a main road in the middle of nowhere.
The owner did not apologize when het showed up at 18:00. Needless to say that from there on, the atmosphere was set. Two out of 5 stars is flattering. Also given the overal state of the room/dinner/breakfast/location.
