Well, it obviously doesnt, but this place comes very near to being absolutely perfect. Mostly credit has to go to Isidre, the owner, manager, host and chef. 

Stayed two nights in the middle of cold January, and not only was it warm and cosy (with plenty of bedding, towels etc), but the owner goes the extra step from making sure you dont scratch your car when entering the narrow entrance, to carrying heavy bags upstairs, to giving our little boy extra bedding and food (without charging). The place is renovated to very high standards. Although internet is only available in the common salon (which is very homely too, feeling more like your living room, than a hotel), this is too be expected due to the thick granite stone walls.

He is currently in the process of selling this gem of a hotel, so lets hope the new owner can replicate the fantastic hospitality, clean and tidy rooms, awesome breakfast and fantastic service. Hope we have a chance to stay again, before Isidre is onto his next project!

Perfection exists!

We stayed here for a night and we were very happy. The hotel is very cozy, rooms are comfortable and a bathroom is perfect (it has plenty of space and very stylish).
The host is a very welcome person. Although we do not speak French or Spanish he used a translator and we understood each other easily.

NB no longer Ca la Gemma- she has returned to Spain. Howevever, Isidre and Montsi have created a new team to ensure standards remain as high as ever. Two couples, away for a short break in the mountains, we found "La Genciana Groga" by accident but would recommend this elegant chambre d'hôte to anyone wanting a stay in a beautiful location but away from the ski station environment of Font Romeu. Ten years ago, Isidre an ardent Catalan moved from Barcelona to oversee the renovation and design of an almost ruined village house and barn. His vision and taste are reflected in the gorgeous, slightly unusual rooms with all original features retained. Our attic suites were the more expensive choice but gave extra space and originality including a toilet cupboard! We were shown his other bedrooms which were all beautifully decorated and dressed. With demi-pension for each couple costing €152 per night, we were treated to a massive breakfast of sliced meats, cheese, croissants, toast and delicious coffee. The evening meal was offered with at least 2 choices per course and included a bottle of excellent wine per couple. Montsi cooks while Isidre serves. His favourite phrase is "vous manquez  quelque chose?" but we never did need anything because it was all there! Advice on days out, history lessons, and sharing any common languages ( French, Spanish, Catalan or English), it was all a joy and we will certainly return. Gràcies!

Impeccable Isidre

We stayed here two nights as we were golfing in nearby Font Romeu. The B&B  was absolutely lovely and immaculately clean. The house has been renovated to an extremely high standard and is very interesting.However, the best thing about this place was Gemma. She is the best hostess we have ever come across. Nothing is too much trouble for her. Breakfast was great and our evening meal there was very good too. 
No hesitation in staying here again

Restored house within a small village. Beautifully decorated rooms. Feels like a boutique hotel.  We stayed for a few days and explored the area. 
Parking for a few cars only at the property.
A choice of savoury or sweet breakfast. We went for the sweet and were not  disappointed. The  owner very attentive to his guests.

Have just returned from 2 nights in this charming and elegant chambre d'hotes. Beautiful fittings, linens and plenty of hot water from a gorgeous rain shower. Delightful owner who goes the extra mile to help her guests. My only  criticism is the situation - right on a bend very near the road and if you are unused to passing traffic (like us) it meant we didn't have the best sleep. The hot weather meant we would have liked to  open the windows but the admittedly rare traffic passing outside disturbed us. This would be a lovely lovely place in the winter - very cosy. Also be aware that the church clock in Angoustrine tolls all night - twice on each hour!!
