We booked this bed & breakfast based on the previous amazing reviews and were not at all disappointed. 
The two components of a bed and breakfast are rather obvious - a comfortable room with all of the facilities that you need and a good breakfast. Villa Cecile is outstanding for both. The room was luxurious, clean and included just about everything that you would expect from a 5 star hotel. The breakfast, with fresh fruit, home made yoghurt, bread, croissants was really something to look forward to.
Vouhe is a small village around 30 minutes drive from La Rochelle and handy for Rochfort too, but you will need a car.
We received great help and advice from owners about where to visit and were provided with maps and tips, not only for the local area, but also where to visit on our way back to Bordeaux.
We would definitely recommend La Villa Cecile to anyone visiting the area.

Outstanding

Having booked late, and not quite knowing what to expect, we were absolutely delighted. The standards here and attention to detail would not be out of place in any five star establishment. Rooms are luxurious, bathrooms expensively lavish and everything crisply new and spotless. You feel you are the first person ever to have stayed in your room. Home-made breakfasts delicious. The stunning interior design, much remarked upon by others, is sharp and full of surprises while being slightly understated, a perfect combination of style and comfort. Hosts are charming, helpful, very professional. We enjoyed two wonderful nights here while discovering La Rochelle 20 minutes away. Remarkable value for money and one of the best discoveries we have made in 30 years of travelling in Europe.

A wonderful surprise

My wife and I chose Villa Cecile for its quiet, rural village location in easy reach of La Rochelle and Ile de Re. We enjoy staying in B&Bs/chambres d'hote, especially small family run properties, and have stayed in many over the years particularly in France. Villa Cecile did not disappoint in any respect -  hence our rating. This undoubtedly is 5 star quality and one of the best we have ever stayed in.

Our hosts had considered every aspect of comfort and hospitality and the attention to detail was exemplary. Breakfast was something to look forward to with Cecile providing a little "extra" piece of home cooking from her kitchen to complement the selection of bread and croissants, home made yoghurt and fresh fruit. Our room was a match for any 5 star hotel bedroom and spotlessly clean - lovely towels (changed every day) and toiletries and a comfortable bed. We were only there for a short stay (3 nights) but received plenty of advice, maps etc from Gerard so that we could maximise our time in this delightful part of France.

We will certainly aim to make a return visit if we are in the Charente-Maritime again. Thank you Cecile and Gerard for a memorable stay.

5 star quality in every way

Who'd ever have thought that an ordinary looking house in a little village in rural France could be like this inside? The design and thought that went into this is quite staggering. The rooms are if possible even better than they appear in the photos, the French couple who own it (and who I believe did the design) are really nice, friendly and down-to-earth, the attention to detail is superb, and the breakfasts as good as you'd find anywhere. If you're going near La Rochelle then stay here and be as amazed as we were.

Hidden Wonderland

When I walked into La Villa Cecile my jaw dropped. I had chosen it based on good reviews and it did not disappoint. It is simply stunning, straight out of "Grand Designs."  My wife and I stayed 3 nights and the location is ideal for trips to Ile de Re and The Marais. I don't have the words to describe how sumpuous the room was (ours was on the ground floor so had a terrace.) The breakfasts were delicious with home made yogurts and local honey. I could go on but I could not do it justice. Added to the splendour of La Villa Cecile is the charm and helpfullness of our hosts, Cecile and Gerard. Over breakfats Gerard would help with places to visit and also booked tables for us at Le P'tit Caprice, which is a must when staying a few nights.
In summary, La Villa Cecile should be on everyones bucket list and we would certainly wish to return soon. It is perfection!
