We stayed here while visiting to drop our daughter off for a semester in Eichstatt. Management and staff went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable not only at the inn but to make sure we had what we needed to get around town and make our train and plane schedules! The manager packed us a breakfast to go since we were leaving at 4am and then also made sure that our daughter got breakfast and everything she needed after we left! Dinner at the restaurant was delicious and a great value, but the kindness and hospitality of the management and staff are above and beyond! Wouldn't hesitate for one second to recommend this place to anyone!

Excellent service!

I found the Hirschenwirt to be a lovely place to stay in. I stayed there for 3 nights and thought that everything there was above standard. The level of service was excellent,( some very friendly waitresses) the quality of the food was delicious. a very comfortable bed to sleep in too !

As well as the great hotel experience, the location of the Hirschenwirt hotel is just as good. The town if Eichstatt was a lovely quite town full of beautiful Gothic styled buildings.By using the local train station, we were able to be in Munich, Nuremberg, Alpine towns like algau and ingolstadt in an hour

I loved staying at this hotel. The food was delicious, the beers were ever flowing and the staff was so nice and hospitable. We watched the Germany world cup game here. We arrived the day of and the staff made sure we had room inside to sit and watch the game. The staff was very friendly with us and made sure we had an absolutely wonderful time, which we did. I would recommend this stay to anyone staying in the area. Our rooms were also very nice and the bathrooms especially had a very nice modern feel to them. The town itself is beautiful and has a great personality to it.

My favorite little town in Germany

Hotel Hirschenwirt is situated in Wasserzell, about 4 miles from Eichstätt. 
When we arrived, we were told that our room was in the Gästehaus (guesthouse) about 200 yards from the Hotel. We received the keys at the hotel. There is no reception at the guesthouse. In the morning it was possible to pay to the lady who serves breakfast. The car could be parked in the garage in the back of the building. 
We were not enthralled in staying at the guesthouse. This building is older and did not match the description of the hotel catalogue or the description in booking.com. We asked for Wi-Fi connection in the room. As some rooms do not have a signal, we were upgraded to a so called “suite room”. The room was old and in bad need of refurbishing. it had a bad unfresh smell, as it was probably not used for a long time. The general impression was that of a faded charm of the 80ies. There was also bad smell of canalisation in the bathroom. When we complained, we were told to let run the water. There was only lukewarm water anyhow, too cold for a hot shower. 
We were told that we are not allowed for having our breakfast in the hotel but had to take it in the guesthouse. The buffet, probably once richly garnished, was pilfered by a group of cyclists that were not shy to pack their lunch from the buffet. Possibly to limit the damage, the resupply was sparse. We had evening dinner at the restaurant which was generous in portion but very commonly prepared in a rather greasy way.
The hotel is not in walking distance of Eichstätt and therefore not ideally situated for visiting the shrine of “Saint Walpurga” and the beautiful church of the cloister. 
We would not return to this hotel.

4 miles from Eichstätt in Wasserzell - Avoid the guesthouse

Great experience, nice nice people. 
The dinner was wonderful and not expensive. Definitely eat at their restaurant.
The breakfast was good, too.
The room was amazing. Very cottage-like, camp-like, but lots of space. 
We stayed in the loft room, and it had more practical furnishings and hooks etc. than we have ever seen in a hotel!
The setting is quiet, but you already know that if you are planning to go to Eichstatt!
Important to know, though: it is not in Eichstatt proper, but about 5 km out of the town, near the banhof (train station).
Great for biking trips!
lots of space for kids, too.
wifi was 2 euro extra.
